What is this? News from 2017? 2 weeks and it's yours if you want one. They are all over the place in SFBA.

I believe about 99% of Americans drive less than 40 miles a day. Why deprive yourself from one of the most fun and fast cars on the planet because you have to do a road trip to grandma's house once a year? It is pretty easy and cheap to rent an ICE car if you are going to do a big road trip. The Tesla charging network is very robust and can get you over 150 miles in about 20 minutes - the time it takes to take a piss, stretch and buy a snack on the trip.

Are there tax incintives with those other cars?
Have you ever met a middle class person driving a Tesla?

Everyone I see on the road, has an executive behind the wheel and have a gate barcode for a Million++ Dollar Condo on the back window.
These aren't schlub cars. While there are no shortage of middle class people driving cars that cost more than Teslas.
This isn't about affordability, it's about the exclusive club of Rich people driving cars subsidized by tax payers.

Burn it all down. Well never mind, the Tesla cars are doing it for us. Thanks Tesla Cars!

I don't get it; why are you folks so captivated by this EV/Tesla fandom?

I mean it's looking like some Trekkie or (pre-Kathleen Kennedy) Star Wars convention goers.

Seriously, my only interest in things like Lamborghini was when I was a kid and liked action movies with rocket launchers, etc, ala Buckaroo Banzai and as we know, the Lambo with Adrienne Barbeau's big tits popping out, was the central feature of 'Cannonball Run' which was the most watched DVD/VHS back in its cable TV heyday.

With the above stated, today I'm a grown up and prefer to be driven around by a chauffeur and enjoy life.

I don't get the hate on Tesla and Musk.

Musk is one of the few Silicon Valley types who is not a total SJW moron and actually building a product people want.

One can argue that he is struggling to be one of the first new American mass producers of cars in several decades, but I don't think anyone can credibly complain about the quality and amazing technology of Tesla cars. Tesla has set the bar that all of the other established automakers like Audi, GM, Volkswagon, Hyundai are trying to catch up.

Even if Tesla goes out of business today, they have done a great service setting the bar so high.

That is certainly a fair complaint - and the stock has been correcting all year.

Again, I just look at the Teslas as a product.......and they are light years ahead of most of the competition.

Many of the big traditional US automakers wouldn't have survived the last recession without a government bailout.

Tesla doesn't have the big union legacy costs as the other US automakers, so they have less of an excuse and need to get their costs in line pronto.

Is there any other space business right now? SpaceX is doing a commercial launch about every 2 weeks at much lower costs than its international competitors.

That is nothing to sneeze at.

A private company (SpaceX) is beating NASA, Russia and China.......all who have decades of rocket experience and the massive financial backings of large nations.

There is zero need to accelerate any faster at all than what has been possible for the last decades, unless you want to connect some ultra-smart and bug-proof AI that can use lightning fast acceleration in swerve maneuvers for accident prevention. Which isn't happening. It's probably causing more accidents as people try to impress by showing off. So acceleration is merely used for status-symbol signaling. They may need the battery business to success in a grand manner to survive. My bet is they will eventually get bought for less than their current valuation.

You can toss in the rusted Civics a/o Altimas. And if you want to play the regional name calling game, it's Masshole, not Assachusetts. And yes, I'm a proud Masshole, at least against NYC and Philadelphia. I know that Eagles fans have never forgiven us for the 2004 Super Bowl, regardless of last year's win.

If you want to know, some 1/3 of the nation lives in the various metropolitan regions between Boston and DC. That's more ppl per square mile than anywhere else in the USA. So pleaz, stop the Californication. We deal with real weather on our side of the fence. And batteries don't do well in the winter time.

There's nothing wrong with building a new product, whether it's truly original or some hybridization of earlier works. The problem is that this is becoming some sort of "cult of personality" product line for Cali types than something for the masses.

Yes, because real life is not 'The Fast and Furious'. The regular folks (as oppose to some punks) don't drag race on highways w/o getting their license revoked by State Troopers. I've seen numerous 'punks' pulled over over the years for playing Vin Diesel on our east coast highways.

Have you ever driven an EV? The acceleration is exquisite. I just have a Chevy Bolt which is not as quick as the baseline Teslas, and it is a total blast to drive every day. I don't even speed that much. I just get to the speed limit as quickly as possible in a very smooth and quiet fashion without being obnoxious with a loud ICE engine. Every time I get to accelerate off a stop light is a joy and never seems to get old.

The one pedal driving and regenerative engine braking is just the icing on the cake.

Driving my wife's ICE car just feels stupid to me now.

Yeah, but then again I prefer manual transmission and do the engine breaking myself. Whether it's regenerative or not is not a feature specific to EVs only, ICEs/hybrids have it too. I like the Bolt and think that EVs will mix with ICEs but Teslas will be a minority or vanish if not bought out. With the tight speed limits in the US and CA in general I reach the speed limit too fast with the manual transmission. Hybrids seem most useful to me but I prefer ICEs although ultimately a ca is utilitarian and I'm not religious wrt to the type as long as it's reliable and easy to repair without too much software in it. Also Turbo-diesel tech is completely underrated.

You can't be serious asking such a question. You of all posters on this blog should "get it".

It's taken 56 years to get here. Ten years before this race, the Ford had an engine designed in 1932 and the Chevy designed in 1929--both produced a little over 100 horsepower, including the brand new Corvette. Ten years later, this is what you could walk into any dealership and order:

And that's because I don't want to be seen as 'gay' at high end Boston restaurants where outside of those power business dinners, the other male couples are South Enders (see Boston's Gay Enclave). Realize, I've got the cash to eat at those places but I can't be seen there with non-business guys.

As for the pony baloney, banging hoes in Montreal, gets the job done. And yes, that's called buying an experience, not an object to show off to others. The whole performance thing is retarded because last I'd checked, there were state troopers on the highway flagging the 'Fast and Furious' crowd.

We're very prudent about money and thus, seeing hoes definitely beats divorce court and losing half of one's portfolio.

And on the other side of the pond, during the height of the British Empire, a lot of gentlemen saw hoes on weekends but focused intensely on the business of the Empire during the weekdays.

I've blended the best of both worlds, the UK and the Yankee sides.
