President Donald Trump will announce Wednesday that the U.S. will recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, senior administration officials said
The U.S. will move its embassy to the city, but that could take "years" — possibly three to four — and there is no location yet for the new facility, officials said

If there is no purpose and no benefit, why are the Arabs and Muslims so upset? Please tell us.

What? There’s no purpose or benefit to it precisely because it angers so many countries. And if you don’t know why that is the case, then perhaps you need to educate yourself more about the region.

Fear of Arab oil embargo.

If Arabs sold Parsley, Plastic Washers, and novelty X-ray Glasses instead of Oil, the embassies would have been in Jerusalem decades ago.

Sudan, Myanmar, Pakistan, so many countries where human rights are violated and so many murdered all the time. The UNHCR is only interested in Israel.

The Palestinians go to the peace process, are offered 95% of JEWdea and Samaria, then flounce in a huff and declare an intifada.

This is a wonderful gesture that's ALREADY BEEN APPROVED by the USA as punishment for walking away from negotiations.

For 2000 years, Jews said "Next Year in JEWrusalem." not "Next year in Tel Aviv" which didn't even exist until recently. ALL of Jerusalem will be Israeli. Historically, Arabs have closed the city on a whim when they were butthurt, shookdown Pilgrims, they simply can't be trusted with it's administration.

Israel's words are backed with nuclear weapons, so any talk of the Palestinians who bred like rabbits from a few hundred thousand into millions over a few generations moving in and voting is an absolute non-starter. We don't need another Lebanon. The Paleban moved there and ignited a Civil War.

I don't know why people are so opposed to this, it's been the law and approved by an overwhelming majority of both Dems and Republicans for 20+ years.

All Trump is doing is refusing to issue a National Security Waiver to postpone it yet again.

If it's so horrendous and unpopular, surely Congress will withdraw their own legislation.

Oh it angers other countries, like the Muslim countries that terrorize us. Their terrorist activities angers us even more, so fuck them. We ain't giving in to their threats. Who the hell do these 7th century barbarians think they are, ordering us around.

Blackmail. Old fashioned blackmail. We don't want their oil anymore. Let them drown in it.

Not to mention that virtually all of Israel's capital government buildings have been located in Western Jerusalem for decades.

Are all the Western ISIS lackeys who are all butt-hurt over moving the US embassy to Israel's capital really foresee a future where Israel uproots the Knesset and Supreme Court from West Jerusalem?

The "peace process" in the Mideast has been going on my whole life. All process, no peace.

Peace in the Mideast is never going to happen.

My only quibble with that comment is, I wonder how much of the turmoil is due to US meddling and shit stirring.

Is Trump going to build an embassy there, and use that for leverage to give half of Jerusalem to the Palestinians later? The only way he would have time to complete such a plan is if they get to building and build quickly. Otherwise, he might as well let Jared go skiing for the 3 yrs. He'd have as much luck negotiating peace from Aspen's slopes as anywhere else.

Only 128 countries oppose. Just another highlight of the trump legacy. It will be up there with the Iraq war and “WMD.”

Btw the supposed “blue print” of Iraqi WMD was taken from the movie Resident Evil and no one noticed because they were all got paid to vote yes.

Palestine was never a city-state. It was a never a nation, or even a culture. The people who claim to be "Palestinians" originated from a group of Slaves during the Ottoman Empire and were made up of arabs, bedouins, and other cultures enslaved by the Ottomans during the time.

"Free Palestine" is basically an anti-zionist jew hating lefitst movement built upon a fairy tale.
32   MisdemeanorRebel   2017 Dec 26, 6:49pm

If you watch/read interviews with butthurt Paleban from 1967, they all moan about the humilation to themselves as "Arabs" or "Jordanians". Almost none of them call themselves Palestinians, except for a handful of Soviet Trained VIPs. "Ordinary" former Arab Serfs of the Ottomans seem to have no idea about any "Palestine".

Also, if it's all about the "Occupation" of Jewdea, how come there was no peace in 1947-1966 with Israel? How come the Palestinians never rose up against Egypt, that annexed Gaza, or Jordan, which annexed the "West Bank". The "Palestinians" didn't seem interested in fighting against annexation by Egypt and Jordan. In fact, the "Palestinian" Flag is just the Jordanian flag with a star on it.

There is something about Muslims that puzzles me . Muslims can do anything to other Muslims and they don't bother to complain. They just continue to kill each other as usual. The moment an infidel does some something to a Muslim the whole Islamic world wants blood, Jihad, and revenge. This is especially true when it comes to Jews and the Christian West.
If Islam is "peaceful" why do we get so much violence from it?

Do those countries run entirely on Hydroelectric and Solar? Or do they need a certain something to keep things running, but don't have a World Deployable Military Force to make sure they get it? Especially the poorer ones, whose navy consists of a WW2 PT Boat with a range of 200 miles and a single rusty .50 MG for which the ammo was sold by unpaid sailors long ago? Look out, here comes the Liberian Navy to launch a punitive counter strike on pirates who took on of "their" flagged tankers. Ran out of gas not halfway into the Gulf of Benin.

Besides, it's European Realpolitik for them to stake out positions different than the US. When the rotary device meets the excrement, however, they usually behave differently in fact.

Push has not come to shove yet.
Take the example of India, a major importer of oil from the Middle East, which voted against the US. The USA has formed a strategic alliance with India as a counter balance to China. Israel too has formed some kind of an alliance with India. India has it's own problems with Islamic terrorists just like we do, maybe even more. I doubt if India has any love for the Islamic hordes. Her future lies with successful democracies like ours.
