Nobody has ever bought a house at an open house. Whys ellers have them is beyond me. Open houses are for the benefit of the realtor, not the seller.

I agree. The main thing I've ever been asked by a used house salesman at an open house is "are you already represented?" I usually put a fake name/email address, because otherwise the used house salesman will put me on his/her email list.
used house salesman - puts it in perfect perspective. 2 thumbs up.
Thanks Controllio

Yup. In my re license class, our instructor said exactly that. "Do it to build your network. If you find a buyer, then great, that increases your chance of doubling the commission on the sale."
They are self-serving parasites on a mission to rob anyone they can get their paws on.
Every weekend is open house weekend. While your slowly figuring out that realtor of yours is really just a commission collector, you can ask them for a open house, and I think they'll do it for you. About all they really do is put up a couple of signs for a couple of hours, maybe throw a little advertisement in the local shopper.
Nationwide Open House, San Antonio style. All the Realtors had printouts of their other listings just in case you didn't like the open house.
