This article got me thinking.

U.S. faith levels plummet to lowest on record https://share.google/DyY0QjJOebFLkpgpX

How much of our current problems stem from a lack of shared values, specificly the lack of faith. If America becomes agnostic or worse yet overtly atheist... Will it have lost a part of its national identity?

Religious freedom yes, but have never been an irreligious people. This lack of faith or a religious doctrine is disturbing.

Agreed. Especially when the Democrats challenge every reference to religion and have replaced God with DEI and climate change. Fortunately, the younger generation is turning against them and finding church/religion once again..

As someone that does not do religion, I agree with the sentiment. Some people need it. It's not necessarily about god, bible verses, and the history, but about networking with people. My network is solid and have people that look out for me if they notice something.

Some people don't have the skill and churches give that opportunity. The money side and tax breaks I don't agree with, it is a business at heart. So for that I find it kind of shady. Think Joel Olsteen and the evil looking southern guy with the private jet viral video. There are good churches though.

Overall I think people should be more religious. Just not for me. I think the biggest area is blacks. Most of their small churches are scams as the pastor rolls up in a $70k Cadillac. I witnessed it on the south and west sides of Chicago, so it's not hyperbole. If you can get that percentage of the population, higher in cities, to go to legit churches I think society would improve.

White trash people are no slouches either. Southern Baptists come to mind. It's all theatrics.

I don't go, but where I'm at it's you go to Sunday service and then have a coffee afterward and chat with your neighbors. I don't want more people in my town, but rural is the way to go. Not something everyone can do, but you'll love life a lot more.

Ha, I was transferred to Winston Salem where you either are working on your second million or the second shift. Driving down the road one would see a Baptist church followed by a hair stylist shop, followed by a hair stylist, etc etc…

Faith is a word which sounds more important than belief; either way you must believe that long ago some men communicated with an imaginary supreme being who passed his wisdom on to them, and you can go to church to learn about it.

Religion is a convenient excuse for many people to be cruel to others who may be competing with them for land or resources. Someone who isn't a member of your religion may be treated any way you like; muslims do this for example.

Of course if you learn history, the Catholic Church in Europe was a murderous bunch of nuts like a mafia with robes.

As a rule, I won't enter a church; lately I was invited to a wedding and I said I won't go in there and be lectured by a pedophile priest in a halloween costume.
