Here in South Florida your backyard may have Oleander, Castor Bean plants, Belladonna, The Cardboard Palm(super deadly to your dog and it's like chocolate for them).
Some smarty pants thought it was a great idea to import the Monkey no Climb tree. But in the almost 40 years I've been in South Florida, I don't recall one fatal poisoning. Other than Dogs getting poisoned by the cardboard palms. Also Bufo toads, will kill a dog.

If I recall correctly Socrates was convicted and sentenced to be killed ,rather than be killed he drank hemlock to commit sucide ……. and I think that is what happened .Abe Lincoln’s mother actually died from it

These plants are used to make a most deadly poison that has been around for thousands of years. The Greek philosopher Socrates was poisoned by a derivative of hemlock.
