Sweden and Finland add A FUCKING LOG to the security of the alliance. Much more than, say, Italy or, dare I say, Germany (it its present sorry state).

And the time to expand NATO is fucking now while Russia is stuck in Ukraine and can't do jack shit about Finland and Sweden joining. Perfect timing. What makes it even more juicy is that it was created by OH SO SMART PUTIN HIMSELF.

Sweden does need to pay a late fee. Finland was tied by a treaty, so, it's waived.

The reason that Russia is in Ukraine is because the United States kept expanding NATO.

Quit doing the same thing and expecting a different result.

Russia is justified at this point of just cutting off energy to Europe, and letting them starve. Europe has been intransigent in trying to cooperate with Russia, and their diplomacy is just a bunch of slander and libel. Trying to talk to them has proved to be pointless and a waste of time. Europe's governments are at open war with their populations, cut off energy and fertilizer, and maybe the people will actually realize the need to fight.

That is very reasonable. Other than Budapest memorandum promises, USA has no interest in this war or in European affairs. Let Europeans worry about their problems and let them pay for their own defense. After that, may be German army will have guns to practice instead of broomsticks (but very likely not).

Here's the thing, if there's going to be a NATO in the future, it should contain only one European nation and that's the UK.

In other words, after the heat of the War of 1812 settled down and the hatchet was buried, the UK and USA formed a semi-permanent alliance.

Now, that's NATO, which is the USA, Canada, and the UK. Everyone else is a perimeter ally or let's say a friend of the family, not a part of a formal alliance.

There's no need to expand this any further. If either the UK or Canada is invaded, we come to their rescue and that's that. We don't need to fight the border battles for Finland, Moldavia, or even Cyrus, given the angst between Greeks and Turks.

Otherwise, NATO is a joke where every member gets to use their membership to rally troops for their private missions.
