Title says it all. I'll post my comments later. Have to run for now. I'll post later this afternoon or late tonight. Figured this could be a non-political fun thread with some light debate on locations people want to go to.

Wreck diving in the Black Sea.

Too soon?

Why do you promote a side in a war? Do you really think that Russia is going to lose just because the United States is using Ukraine for money laundering and has puppets in power there?

This stupid, pointless, easily avoidable war may result in mass starvation. It was trivial to prevent - all Ukraine needed to do was to not to seek NATO membership and stop murdering people in the Donbass. Are these unreasonable demands?

What I hear, which may be untrue, is that for every 1 Russian soldier that dies in this stupidity, 15 Ukrainian soldiers die. IF that is true, it's going to end with the decimation, literally, of the nation because men of fighting age are forced to fight. They are forced to fight over an evil government that insists on hosting NATO weaponry and ins...

Surprised no one mentioned this one. Greek islands. Also Japan(NOT Tokyo), and Germany for Oktoberfest. And England(the countryside). And Hawaii and American Samoa.
15   HeadSet   2022 May 19, 7:49pm

Places I have spent time at that I would recommend:
Hawaii
Guam
Okinawa
Philippines
Azores
Anatolia (Turkish Riviera)
Sicily
England, Scottland, Wales
Norway
Provence (Southern France)

Wife and daughter took a trip to Japan awhile back, but we knew several Japanese families to show them around.

I really enjoyed my visit to Poland, especially because I had relatives to show me around.

Who is convinced to fight in these wars? I am not a coward, but I'm not fighting another persons battle for them.

Sorry, wrong thread, I think

But I'm just going to edit it and watch the feedback because it seems relevant still

Go to a place NOBODY visits. I hate tourist attractions, I hate going to a place only to meet other tourists.

You need to have the mindset of being curious about how other people live. Locals will be surprised you're there and they will be suspicious because the place is never visited. Just blend in. You'll find most people there are quite awesome.

I tend to agree, but sometimes you have to go to the tourist areas to see cool stuff. Your best friend visiting a tourist area will be your bartender.

We were in Nashville on Broadway at our hipster hotel for a 40th birthday. All the wives left and it was just me and my buddy. I don't even know where it was because I was having a good time, but our bartender, his brother and a former NFL player (name escapes me, not well known) go to an amazing Nashville dive bar off the beaten path. Top 5 weirdest night of my life and that was just this past November. Totally fun and I hate tourist Nashville. But I wouldn't have gotten to be in the more chill, my vibe part of Nashville without meeting the bartender in tourist central. So I now like Nashville a little bit more. Fuck Broadway St though.

So it's a give and take going to tourist areas. The locals that work there to make money know the actual good spots to visit and do things at. So I don't look at it as a negative if you're social enough.

In 2004, upon graduating college, I bought a plane ticket and flew to Amsterdam for $600 with a backpack

I spent the next 3mo months visiting countries on a whim and in a budget where I mostly stayed in hostels for $15/day.

Holland -> Belgium -> France -> Spain -> South France -> Italy -> Greece -> Italy again -> Austria -> Germany -> Poland

Out of all of those I enjoyed Greece and Poland the most.

Wouldn’t trade that 3mo of adventure for anything in the world.

I managed the whole trip on $5,000

I'm trying to see if you will demonstrate thinking and if you have justification in your beliefs.

Here's what has happened so far. Oil has gone up drastically, this is good for all energy exporters, including Russia. Russia is now being paid in their own currency, this as stabilized the Ruble. Russia has FINALLY after 2 stupid decades of trying to work with the United States, realized this is a waste of time and effort. Europe may literally freeze to death and experience a famine in 6 months. Congratulations, dipshits.
22   zzyzzx   2022 May 20, 10:41am

All of Florida
New England
Vegas (even though I probably won't like it nearly as much as Atlantic City).
Poland
Czech Republic
Hungary
Romania
Bulgaria
Croatia
23   Ceffer   2022 May 20, 10:50am

I hear there are free flights to Ukraine, and they'll even give you your own rifle.

Reminds me of the old joke:

-- Do you know Ivan who used to live across the street from the jail?
-- Yes, so?
-- He now lives across the street from his house!
-- LOL.
-- And do you know what he eats and drinks now? Nothing but bread and water! It even healed his ulcer!
-- Wait, if eating just bread and water so good for him why the fuck couldn't he do it while still living in his own house?

Describes Russian "successes" achieved with this Specially Stupid Military Operation to a T.

It's all apparently a giant conspiracy of wreck divers bored of the old diving spots, LOL.

So.... Places I've been:

- All lower 48 states
- Mexico
- Jamaica
- Dominican
- Puerto Rico
- US and British Virgin Islands
- Curacao
- Aruba
- Caymen islands
- Costa Rica
- St. Marten
- Canada
- Bahamas

Obvious Caribbean theme there. So on to the bucket list for me with that in mind.

Bucket list:

- Every Lesser Antilles island. Barbados, Antigua, etc. Sailing trip.
- Bonaire to hit the ABC's
- Belize
- Panama
- Chile
- Pacific side of Mexico
- Alaska
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Maldives
- Turks and Caicos
- Any island once in the south Pacific (Bora Bora or something similar)
- Spain
- Greece
- Lithuania (heritage visit)
- Austria
- Southeast Asia somewhere. Haven't researched.

If I checked all these off the list, these would be 2nd bucket:

- Turkey
- Egypt
- Somewhere in Africa, have never really searched it to be honest

Most of Europe can fuck itself. It usually does on its own. Sorry, wanted to give my own input earlier being the OP.

Get the luxury of meeting our US House Rep in the next few weeks. I don't agree with her, but it could massively help our community. This is what people don't understand about politics and money. Sometimes you tuck it and pander to these fucks. We're close to making 2,200 people happy as fuck. It's a huge deal. $2.2M for a town our size is huge for what it's going to be used for (don't wanna dox). So I've been distracted. Legit exciting for myself as selfish as that sounds. 6-7 years in the making and it's looking good. Fuck, I'm feeling positive, swear words aside. I'm super happy. Crying happy. I'm pulling an Ohomen, but if we pull this off, it's huge. A touch of sarcasm, but this project will influence a couple thousand kids over the next decades. Feeling accomplished and give the usual advice. Know as many people as you can. Not getting into details, but I think one person pulled strings (I hate him) but am grateful. It's been a good day.

I'm going to all these places. Fuck it. If we get the governor I'll likely be off Patnet and on yachts. Always had a good outlook on life, but holy fuck, our world is going to the moon right now potentially.

Hong Kong the food was amazing and it was a fun city. I went in 2015. didn't think I'd like it and loved it. Chile people are very nice. Singapore was interesting - good food

I'd like to go to Japan & African safari. I used to mail order info on safaris and save it in my binder as a kids hahhaha and Also want to check out the pueblo magicos in Mexico.

My favorite places is Isle of Skye, Scotland and El Salvador (have family there) Antigua Guatemala was incredibility beautiful.

Been all over Europe, Central and South America and Hong Kong, Singapore, and Bali. Currently having fun exploring the US. North Carolina is really pretty!

If you go to Europe and don't visit the most beautiful country Italy and the most underrated country Germany (best beer by far) you ain't seen nothing ;)

Maybe they're snobs traveling around (maybe I am too) but I can't stand Italians first and second is Germans. I almost got into a physical altercation with a Italian guy (60's) that was being a cunt to my kids being kids in Costa. They weren't disturbing him as I would interject and tell my kids you're fucking with this guys vacation. No problem reprimanding my kids if they're being dicks. This wasn't the case.

This dude just started yelling at them (my kids and neighbors kids) and speaking his language. Our kids did nothing wrong. I believe I may have told him to go fuck his fat wife. I want to punch people, but I'm a word guy. Haven't been hit since I was maybe in 5th grade and once in college in an all out brawl at a house party. Having an attorney as a father, in the moment I generally think quicker on my feet than most. When you grow up arguing (lawyering with your dad) daily you gain a skill set that other people don't have.

The left is the one banging the war drums and sending Ukrainians to die. And some military complex establishment rinos. This could have easily been solved with diplomacy and hopefully will soon.

Would have been exponentially cheaper life and money wise to just buy the land they wanted (Russia). Ukraine would still have a port as well. There was a win win solution and humans are morons. Whatever...

Zelenskyy is a puppet, he has been instructed not to seek a diplomatic solution by Ihor Kolomoyskyi who is controlled (now) by the United States.

It happens. Who cares? Does it move you somehow? Threads get derailed all the time on any site.

Where do you want to travel? You can bring it back on track.

Asturias, northwest Spain. Got turned onto the region by Kraig Adams' video on the nearby Picos de Europa. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3S59EfTfP0

No - they don't. Try Naked Capitalism and Wolf Street to see what happens when threads try to get derailed or someone does not even bother to read the OP and offers comments

Patently false. It happens all the time on any forum I'm a part of. If a thread doesn't get derailed, it's because of heavy handed moderation. Not my jam so I don't frequent sites that want to censor you.
