Every time, my wife or one of my daughters mentions someone we barely know or know of, says they died.

Step number one! Never Ever go to the Fucking Hospital over Covid fears.
Step number two! Covid is actually a very fragile disease, so much so, that Fauci and the Commies at large, must work tirelessly around the clock to protect their precious Democracy killer from a myriad of cocktails that will stop it in its tracks. Every time the Potato Biden's regime blackballs an affective treatment, and the FDA forbids Doctors and hospitals to give it out. The White Hat Doctors come up with another treatment that will kick its ass.
The folks that end up in the hospital and dead, treat it like they are nursing a common cold, until it gets so bad they have to go to the hospital. By then even if they could be saved, the Hospitals are snuffing them out for statistical optics.
