I think this one might escalate quickly. Interested to see how Biden handles this. Looking at a Cat 3 or higher hitting NOLA. Between Afghanistan and what is about to hit, this could be the turning point for his administration. I don't want Kamala though. I have a feeling this is going to be bad though.

Some Purple haired Cum Swallower over the NOAH is lying their communist ass off.

This is barely a cohesive tropical storm.

You may be right as I know you're a Floridian, but I'd love to see this as the Afghanistan debacle continues. A Cat 3 to Nola would be bad for Biden. Conservatives are fucked up too, but they're the better of two evils. Need to get 2022 flipped. A bad hurricane wouldn't be bad.

Also just got noticed upgraded to Hurricane. I don't want people to be hurt, but this does not bode well for Biden. A good thing in my opinion.

Yeah, now he'll have 2 catastrophes to blame on Trump!
(1) Having a hard-and-fast deadline for Afghanistan withdraw which couldn't possibly be planned for or (just like all the good things Trump has done in the past) overridden.
(2) Hurricanes, which, as you know, only act up out of spite for Trump's realism about completely ineffective countermeasures to fight global warming / climate change / the weather just shut up and do what I say.

I'm a fan of this site for tracking storms throughout the world:
https://www.wunderground.com/hurricane

I'm especially a fan of the "wundermap" feature (on a big screen, powerful computer, compliant browser).
Go here, click the "windstream" checkbox and then zoom out with the "-" onscreen button.

I went to engineering school at U. Michigan with one of the founders of wunderground.com, Alan Steremberg.

We were also classmates with Larry Page, who co-founded the biggest privacy-invading public surveillance mechanism ever known, Google.

Alan did something good.
Larry did something evil.

His website is god awful, but he gathers data from all sources constantly. He also seems like a fun guy to hang out with. Kind of a life is short, enjoy it type guy. Either way he's pretty on top of the Caribbean. I'm going in late October, so hoping a storm doesn't destroy St. Thomas or St. John. So I watch frequently. I think Ida will be a Cat 3 at minimum. We'll see. I've only recently gotten into the hurricane season the last 4 years or so.

The problem is if this is a bad storm we'll get the "climate change" narrative again and the green new deal will be front and center.

Don't get me wrong climate change is real and industrial activity hasn't helped but unless EVERYONE is on board we won't make a dent in reversing course. Plus some of the change is cylical and irrespective of human activity.

So even if we in the states cut emissions to zero tomorrow, unless China, India, Brazil fall in line...

Plus vehicular traffic probably generates more pollution than industrial activities. And what's the alternative? Go back to horse and carriage? Electic vehicles have promise, but the total impact (including strip mining od lithium for batteries) is significant.

Biden is showing his age. If we had an election THIS November, he'd loose. Handily. Even with potential ballot stuffing in his favor. In some ways I feel bad for him. Establishment put him as "their" guy (because he could be manipulated) and once that happened the fix was in
.
Sort of a republican revolution in 2022, what more can we do to tur ln the tide? Even then I don't trust either party they are two sides of the same coin and have been for at least my lifetime.

Makes me want to run for public office. Rather than bitch on the internet anonymously, I might as well try to be part of the solution that fixes this mess.

It will be used by the media to take the focus off Afghanistan they wont treat his response they way they treated Trump.

Do it. I'm currently an elected official. Super minor role that I'm a shoe in for, but every little bit helps. My neighbors just got on the school board and one on the village board. If you want control, take control. There are consequences depending on your role that could backfire and be negative, but it's worth it. Or know the people that have control.

Networking should be a degree. If you want change you need to know people.

Afghanistan isn't going away. He fucked this up and even the MSM is calling him out. Maybe by design I suppose. He couldn't handle a "planned" exit. He's got a potentially major hurricane on his doorstep by Sunday morning. Is he gonna pull a Bush Katrina incident? He let Afghanistan go for damn near 5 days. He clearly cannot manage both.

Agreed. Please do. We need more people who are not career politicians to take back this mess.

Cat 4 predictions now. This is going to cause damage or flooding either way. Depending on where it hits, NOLA is likely underwater. I'm predicting this is going to be pretty bad.

Given the time of year and water temps I wouldn't be shocked if it turns into a Cat 5. I haven't been tracking this closely as I'm more interested in St. Thomas area in the Caribbean. I think we have a big boy on our hands though.

WHY are Presidents expected to 'handle the weather'?

I think that in China, the Emperor was in fact traditionally blamed for natural disasters, because it proved that he lost the "Mandate of Heaven" to rule.

They have more resources to evacuate people. I’d be out of town by now. This is 3-5 territory in a place below sea level. Katrina 1.5 minimum.

Based on Biden's mis-judgements in Afghanistan, I suspect he will close the airports and highways.

Yes! Because burning fossil fuels exacerbates globull worming, which, in turn, makes hurricanes bigger! Science, bitchez, believe it!

I agree.

Biden deserves no pity at all after decades of corruption.

These 'canes frequently veer east at the last moment to hit Biloxi. For some reason, Biloxi seems to be Mother Nature's lead pin down there.

Anyway, we told my wife's relatives to cut fuck out of New Orleans before the traffic clogs up. Whether they do or not is another story.

Even though we sustained a hit from the hurricane, I am happy to report that we made it out okay with only minimal damage, downed trees and missing vaccination cards.

Orange Hurricane bad.

I got a dinner plate sized puddle in my basement from Ida. I ignored it, and it went away.

The word is it would take twenty more Idas to completely cleanse New York. The political sewage from DC would simply make a 500 mile radius uninhabitable for years.

And I take it some of the most tactical firearms were swept away by the wind and floodwaters?
