If a Fed holiday falls on a Saturday the day off is moved to the Friday before.

Depends on the employee. Teachers have way too many days off considering they're off for 3 months of the summer and get another month off throughout the year. This holiday doesn't benefit them though. One thing I'll agree with Europeans is time off. At minimum one month a year and preferably two months a year. Regardless of occupation.

One caveat, if you want to make more, you're allowed to work more. Here you'll get fired in the public sector even for unpaid time off. That shouldn't be allowed up to a certain point. Obviously taking 2 months off at once is problematic, but you should be able to take 2-3 weeks off in one shot. Not many Americans can do that and keep their job.

With guaranteed minimum income, every day is a holiday! Name them what you will.

If we're going to celebrate the end of slavery why not make it on emancipation day? Instead we are celebrating the day when this proclamation was read in Galveston Texas:

I say this a little sarcastically but, I wouldn't put it past them. It is my belief that what TPTB really want is mayhem.

Well, the CDC had an EMERGENCY MEETING scheduled today to address the issue of young adults being hospitalized, and some reported deaths, due to post-vaccine heart inflammation. They postponed the EMERGENCY MEETING, for a week or more, at the very last minute, as soon as this holiday was announced. Highly trained Civil "Servants" are quick to respond to new conditions.
