He broke orthodoxy by refusing to call some student by their preferred pronouns, and he's a clinical psychologist that, most likely (since he's never in my knowledge outright stated it), as a form of mental illness.

I, for example, am willing to call a transgendered male or woman "he" and "her" respectively, but I'm not going to use "they" or "zir" or any of that. There's two sexes, and there's intersex conditions, but there's only two sexes.

Caitlyn Jenner might think she is a woman, I just consider her a dude with mental issues - which aren't as severe as governor Newsom's. From my perspective it's a fetish similar to Ed Wood's fetish. Jenner seems to have a need for attention, which is why he was part of a "reality television" series - somebody neither I nor 99.9% of the population would engage in. He's an exhibitionist, and I think subconsciously, that his "transition" got him notoriety.

As "transitioning" becomes less notorious and attention getting, I think "transgendered people" will move to more extremes.

Good points.

I think in large part, it's because he locates most people's issues as having an internal locus, and provides answers to ordering their own world, instead of externalizing all their problems.

Starting with "Clean your room", which drives Leftists insane for some reason.

He's embraced the being a 'supervillain', but calls it "Hail lobster"

For certain. The whole alien thing is already gaining steam. "You can't call me a human! I'm identifying as a Seti Alpha Six Reticulan!"

I've only seen one example of that:

I bet he doesn't live past 50.

There was this that I saw more than 20 years ago:

He killed himself at 54.

I remember seeing that coming. Desmond Is Amazing - I give him until 30.

@richwicks I had not considered that but in retrospect it seems obvious.

Jenner likes to get attention. Winning gold medals was getting attention.

But then he was a former Olympic star, so... ah! Become a "woman"!

And to be honest, it worked. He got a lot of attention once again, maybe even more than before.

I'd argue this is a mental illness.

I don't mind being wealthy, but the LAST THING I want to be is famous. I'd say people looking for fame are mentally ill. It makes you a target. I strive to be the most innocuous, ignorable person imaginable. Imagine being Bill Gates - that asshole lives in a prison, or around security guards. That would be a hell for me. It might be a palatial prison, but it's still a prison.

My goal has always been to do well, and to have nobody realize I'm doing well. Drawing attention sucks.

Apparently he's had this fetish for decades. That's fine, I will not condemn him for it.

But he's trying to normalize it, and I think is detrimental to most people. He's got enormous resources. Somebody making $15 an hour, this is not going to help them. They can do whatever they want, but the only reason people look up to Bruce Jenner is his wealth, not that he "transitioned". That won't happen to somebody making $15 an hour, or even $100 an hour.

I agree, it is a mental illness.

But there is a certain rationality to it for people who are desperate for attention.

Consider what you know about psychology though. For me, it's a model of a human being, that doesn't exist. All the psychology majors at my university, were nuts trying to understand their own problems. If this is case among all universities, lunatics are defining "normal".

You must have run across evolutionary psychology at some point. That seems not only consistent, but a testable theory on how we think - but all tests to confirm the hypothesis are forbidden, and properly are. The concept is beliefs and ideas that propagate the species (and that includes racism, war, etc) are accepted as being morally justified. The concept doesn't just limit itself to human societies, but any societal creature.

Well, there appears to be a direct connection to notoriety and income.

That's not a trade I'm willing to make. It's not a trade that I believe our real rulers are willing to make to be honest. The Federal Reserve controls our money supply - who controls them? You have no idea, and neither do I.

There, I think I may have stepped over the line. I find it amazing we have a group that can create as much wealth as they want at will, and few people care about it, but this seems obvious to me.

100% agreed. Well few friends and family can realize it, but I would never flash it. I've always been driving inexpensive (but fun, mostly convertible) cars, and people have asked why I don't by a "nice" car with the money I earn.
10   Ceffer   2021 Jun 6, 2:00am

I'm fine with 'ordinary' cars, many of which are pretty nice these days. Marquis and luxury cars are too much worry and bullshit.

Our neighbors used to have fancy Benz, BMW, Lexus, etc, then they went through a 'regular car' phase for a few years, but they seem to have drifted back into the Benz, BMW, Lexus etc. axis again. They probably think we should 'upgrade' our cars for the hood, but we don't give a shit. I don't even wash my car but once in a blue moon, that's what the rainy season is for. I hear there are neighborhood associations that actually forbid you from parking a car more than eight years old anywhere in sight, unless it is a mint classic or sports car.

Amongst the bizarre discoveries from my not washing cars, I found the paint and finish last a lot longer. Apparently, frequently washing cars is not so good for the finish. My cars, when it rains, or I give them a wipe with a dry towel, or take off some bird crap or something, look great. I have an 18 year old Subaru, and the paint looks excellent on it.

Most people who have actually earned their money and did not inherit it, understand your point of view and would not ask that. Exception would be if the car you were holding on to was constantly breaking down, smoking, top leaking, and so on.

In case you have a change of heart and want to "buy a nice car with the money you earn:"

It is a Rolls Royce Dawn, about $650k.

They do get more expensive the older they get, but as long as the top works fine I'm keeping it. It's true that there may be a breaking point, but then again, you'd probably only fare better by buying a newer used vehicle as brand new cars immediately lose 20% of their value at the minimum. Not fed up yet, plus the old vehicles are mostly mechanical, no hacks into my car and no computer stalling it until I bring it in for an expensive chip replacement. Never paid more than 10k for a car, but with the xiden inflation, this upper limit will surely be broken soon.

It’s insane that this is a meme…and it’s a meme because it’s so exceptional that a man worth hundreds of millions pumps his own gas and still drives his 1983 Benz. Really shouldn’t be exceptional.

16   Shaman   2021 Jun 7, 8:29am

A real man would have a hard time letting basic man tasks get passed to other men because he was too old. The other alternative is that he’s too lazy. Clint is neither.
17   Ceffer   2021 Jun 7, 9:30am

One of my wife's friend's (former) husband met Clint Eastwood standing behing him in line at the Livermore Airport waiting for private plane refueling. He said he was very cordial and personable, not snobby or offish at all. He did also say he was as wrinkled as Methuselah, and didn't give a fuck.

I like nice cars, but I don't have that many friends and don't really like large social gatherings most of the time. It is something that I have to decompress from every time I do it. I do like driving and motorsports

this marvel thing is going downhill also. I remember enjoying most iterations of xmen and the original spider man movie and iron man movie

I don't park my vehicle in sight but that is to protect my vehicle, not to adhere to some HOA. definitely wouldn't ever want to live in such a place like that.

I like driving good cars, too, but I don't find much fun in modern automatic transmission cars. It has to be a stick shift, a tiptronic may work as well.
