The influenza virus research community is to be commended for implementing a voluntary moratorium on "gain-of-function" experiments related to the transmissibility of highly pathogenic H5N1 influenza virus (1). As a key funder of influenza virus research, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, a component of the U.S. National Institutes of Health, strongly supports the continuation of this moratorium pending the resolution of critical policy issues related to the rationale for performing and reporting such experiments.

Is that so?

We need to be certain that the fundamental purposes of this work, together with its risks and benefits, are understood by multiple stakeholders, including the general public, and that decisions are made in a transparent manner.

So did the general public get input on this matter? Was it ever brought before the public?

No.

Putting aside the specter of bioterrorism for the moment, consider this hypothetical scenario: an important gain-of-function experiment involving a virus with serious pandemic potential is performed in a well-regulated, world-class laboratory by experienced investigators, but the information from the experiment is then used by another scientist who does not have the same training and facilities and is not subject to the same regulations.

You mean like giving grants to Ecohealth Alliance which then contracted with the Wuhan Institute of Virology?



In an unlikely but conceivable turn of events, what if that scientist becomes infected with the virus, which leads to an outbreak and ultimately triggers a pandemic?

There wasn't a pandemic, was there?

Scientists working in this field might say—as indeed I have said—that the benefits of such experiments and the resulting knowledge outweigh the risks.

Oh really?

So when did the NIH know there were people in China getting sick? Rumor has it that there were memos flying around from Taiwan and elsewhere about problems back in October and November of 2019, including to and through that organization and the CDC. Is that true?

However, we must respect that there are genuine and legitimate concerns about this type of research, both domestically and globally.



Concerns that were not only legitimate but turned out to be well-founded eh?



If we want to continue this important work, we collectively need to do a better job of articulating the scientific rationale for such experiments well before they are performed and provide discussion about the potential risk to public health, however remote.

The same Anthony Fauci that has BS'd the entire planet for more than a year, clucking at us over this and that.

In fact we know he didn't do any of the things that paper talks about, including honoring the moratorium. He instead found a loophole and used it to grant those funds to Ecohealth, knowing full well what Peter was intending to do, and was doing. You see, Peter had been all over the media for years stating exactly what he was doing. Fauci did so and funded him, with our taxpayer money. Whether that was the key element that set off the pandemic or whether it would have happened anyway at the Wuhan lab we do not know for certain.

Yet.

But what we do know is that Fauci lied.

He lied in this paper; Fauci never consulted with the public and entertained any such debate. Indeed, had he done so people like me likely would have asked him if he was willing to post himself, his wife and any children they may have as bond should these experiments go wrong, to be publicly executed if is protests that this could be done "safely" turned out to be bull****. After all if you're willing to risk everyone else's life and claim it's safe then you ought to post yours along with your entire family's as surety that you're not full of crap.

He then lied again before The Senate and said no such research took place and that he believed the Chinese had "integrity" -- even today. The very same "integrity" that, Fauci now knows factually, led them to lie too yet not one word came out of his mouth about the fact that a whole bunch of people got sick over there in late 2019 and they covered it up.



Further, Ecohealth's Peter gave a video interview in which he described that exact sort of research and in fact the results were reported out with credit back to the grants Fauci authorized.

In addition Fauci's wife presumably authorized them too, as she runs Bioethics at the NIH. When is she going to be called before Congress to testify, complete with subpoenaed records, as to what she signed off on and on what basis?

In this regard, as part of an interagency process, the U.S. Government is planning to augment current policy guidance related to life sciences dual-use research of concern (DURC) (4) by developing a framework for strengthening regular institutional review and oversight of certain life sciences research with high-consequence pathogens and toxins in order to identify potential DURC and mitigate risks where appropriate.

How'd that work out?

The world would like Fauci's honest assessment.

This policy implementation proposal will go well beyond H5N1 influenza virus to include 15 pathogens and likely will be modified to include additional examples of DURC.

Like Bat Coronaviruses, for instance?

Oh, the debate didn't end there. The game of dodge the constraint continued, as this paper makes quite clear.

Paraphrased: Oh we have to find a way to keep doing this because if we stay within the lines it might be harder, and we might get misleading results. Therefore we have to do it, you see.



You can always find a way to justify breaking the rules, but sometimes when you do it you kill people.

Like...... this time.

Anyone got a couple spare pair of handcuffs? It seems we may have a need for them, and we also may need to commission some new Nuremberg judges too.

I have a suspicion that when all is said and done we're going to need far more two pair of handcuffs, by the way. There are plenty of people who have flat-out lied and BS'd the public; Fauci is just the most-outrageous, whether it be origin of this virus and his knowledge that the research was being done yet he vehemently claimed that the lab could not be the source, along with his buddies at NIH who refused to look at and study existing drugs as finding any that were effective would have derailed his precious EUAs.

Every one of the people responsible for any of the suppression and diversion, whether it be related to how this virus came about or the intentional blocking of evaluation of therapeutics must be held fully responsible -- legally and personally -- for every single death.

This includes Heads of State who covered up what they knew -- which, incidentally, conclusively indicts Chairman Xi and the CCP itself. I say we embargo China in all respects, revoke their MFN status permanently and incinerate all US Treasury holdings both by their nation and every entity and person tied to it.

Don't give me any of this bull**** about how we -- we being people in our government including the CDC, NIH and others -- didn't know either. We did know. In late November and early December. There were reports of the lab being shut down and cell service interrupted along with deaths from atypical pneumonia. Our government knew. What's to determine now is exactly who knew both inside and outside the US, when did they know and what did they intentionally block or divert attention from that can plausibly be tied to the deaths that occurred.

The relatives and loved ones of those who died as a result of this stupidity are likely to want blood and if they do they should get it. This is a mass-slaughter comparable in impact to a genocide and should be treated accordingly up and down the line.

You see, there is no monetary or imprisonment punishment that works here. These acts were prohibited, and the actors involved looked specifically for ways to get around the rules, they played fast and loose with the ban on this sort of activity and when it blew up in all of our faces and killed over three million people they hid their complicity at all levels. This must not happen again, and just as with a terrorist while you can never be sure someone won't try it the best and indeed only deterrent is to bring every person involved to justice.



And by the way, it would probably be a good idea to ignore all the other crap these people have been and are putting in front of you when it comes to various public and personal health measures too until every one of the people responsible for this is out of their positions and has been held accountable.

They've already proved themselves to be liars who don't care how many die, or even worse, are perfectly happy to see death so long as it serves a political or financial goal. If you have more than two working neurons to rub together it ought to be obvious that your "health" is the very last thing on their mind.

I'll no more listen to any of these peoples' BS about what I should do and what I should put in my body than I would have allowed Saddam or Bin Laden to lecture me on world peace.
