That’s a lot of ‘mights’ and ‘mays’, the likes of which regularly pepper Fauci’s commentary, and which often blend seamlessly into ‘absolutelys’ and ‘totallys’, pronouncements of certainty. The problem is that the certainties keep proving wrong. Two months ago, after nearly a year of berating Americans to wear a mask, Fauci emerged to declare that actually they might have been incorrect about the number of masks. ...

And it’s also true that if you have two layers on, you’d be even safer with dodecahedral gas masks. Fauci’s double-masking advice sounded less like doctorly counsel and more like a religious fundamentalist claiming the crops have withered because not enough steers were sacrificed. ...

Fauci quickly backed off his suggestion, clarifying that the data still suggested one mask was enough. And even one mask was one more than Fauci was recommending at the beginning of the pandemic. ...

Notably excluded from our current consensus is any kind of skepticism over masks, despite an emerging body of research suggesting that, while wearing masks might prevent the spread of the coronavirus in laboratories, in practice the benefits are far more negligible. Some of these tests aren’t especially robust — the famous Danish study is an example of this — but they still call into question just how necessary all my glasses-fogging really is.

Even the CDC has owned up to this to an extent. After pronouncing for a year that everyone must remain six feet apart, the agency recently revised its social distancing guidelines to say that, at least for schools, three feet apart was totally kosher. I have a feeling that a decade from now, when the COVID culture war has cooled and more research has been done, we’re going to look back and conclude that the measures we took were nowhere near as effective as we thought. How else to explain the Floridian Paradox, under which the Sunshine State has had about the same case and death rates as California despite not locking down to nearly the same extent?

Yet there was Fauci last fall, saying it was ‘very concerning’ that Florida was reopening its bars and restaurants. ...

So now we’re supposed to double-mask but stay three feet apart as cases plunge and vaccinations proliferate?

The truth is masks reduce the dose of viruses that you might receive, but don’t stop them.

We all have likely been exposed to the virus in the last year.

Fauci has contradicted himself so many times I don’t think he has a fucking clue.

Like Gates and Buffet, he loves the attention.

I call him “Topogigio Fauci” after the mouse 🐭 on Ed Sullivan Show.

Well, it's better to wear a hazmat suit all day with your own portable oxygen tank and when you enter your airlock at home, have the automated spray nozzle, hose down the suit with bleach & detergent, before entering your living quarters.

If I were Fauci, I'd recommend that. Then, you won't catch anything, not even the 12 Monkeys virus.

You forgot to add a titanium helmet to protect head from stray meteorites, a full body armor against stray gunfire, and a scuba suit in case there is a flood. Also, no one should drive to work as chances of being killed while driving are higher than chances of dying from corona for all but 60+ year olds. Let's just hide in an armored safe 24/7

I'm going to have to update my bunker. I thought weapons locker, freeze dry foods and an EMP/Radioactive proof lead box with yam seeds was enough.

I don't see how that would work, nor is there any good evidence that it does.

You breathe the same volume of air with each breath, mask or not, right?

Is it supposed to work by making you breathe more local air somehow? But then you walk around...
6   Misc   2021 Mar 22, 1:15pm

Well, if you wear 3 n95 masks, that'll add some protection.

They only prevent droplets from spit. And maybe lessen the total load by a few percent which is insignificant. N95 masks though filter more, but you will need to make sure they sit tight. Either way it's less healthy to constantly wear masks than to take a few additional percent of Covid infection risk. That is all indoors of course, outdoors it doesn't matter at all.

And if you are sick your bodies natural coughing and sneezing to expel viruses are now contained by the mask for you to re-inhale.

I get so disgusted when I see toddlers walking around in parks masked up with their parents. They are deprived of oxygen and taught to fear EVERYONE.

He is for sure. So many years of testing, 6 months ago he insisted 6 ft distance, now 3 ft so they can get more kids in school.

Trump should have replaced him with his own pick right away.

I don't wear a mask when I'm walking around outside. All I have to do is sniff (sometimes nothing even) and people literally jump off of the sidewalk to get out of my way.

I'm kind of enjoying the power here in San Diego.

This does not work at all in a grocery store where everyone has masks on.
11   Patrick   2021 Mar 23, 8:53am

My revenge is to roll my eyes and shake my head and those covidiots.

Sometimes I even ask them: "Why are you wearing a mask?"

They are shocked that I would even ask the question, and then surprised when I point out that there has not been even one documented case of casual outdoor transmission anywhere on earth.

And when I point out that that is from the NY Times article "Covid Absolutism" from Feb 12th, they're really stuck.

I just heard on the radio today that a restaurant somewhere in Virginia won a court case. They haven't required masks since last June. The court said it cannot be proven that the restaurant is causing harm.

Fucking Newscum couldn't answer what "science" was behind his restaurant closure order. Dodged the fuck out of that question several times.

Actually oxygen deprivation is especially damaging to kids who are still growing. Do not let your kid wear a mask for a prolonged time.

The whiplash 180 in the Times happened in March, when the CCP sent out directives after they realized they could benefit from COVID.

It went from:
1. COVID is a nothingburger and not a Chinese Bioweapon
to
2. COVID is Death on Wheels, Every Western Economy must Lock Down, Massive Surveillance Measures in Place with Fines and Fees, and it's still not a Chinese Bioweapon.

By March the CCP realized they could use it to collapse our economy and allow their Compradores in our Corporations and Media to control everything by proxy.

I heard a doctor say that masks are like a chain link fence and someone is throwing sand at it.

He's an incompetent fraud, the NIIH didn't catch on that AIDS was transmitted through blood donations, until tens of thousands of heterosexuals' non drug users had been infected.
That's if you believe they didn't have the forethought to realize it was possible. Fauci had thousands and thousands of heterosexuals slaughtered, so the stigma against Gays and Drug users would go away. He allowed Africa to run wild with AIDS before it was too late to do anything about it. They spent the first decade of AIDS coddling Gays dying of AIDS, while Fauci was working tirelessly to figure out the many different ways the rest of the population could get AIDS, while he said nothing until it was too late.
Also in true Commie Fauci fashion, then when people got it through his gross negligence, he told people that you can catch AIDS through casual contact, so those dying of AIDS would die an alone pariah. While the media kissed every ass of the deviant freaks that probably deserved AIDS, and they constantly shoved those people in our face.

He should have been sent to the electric chair 20 years ago.

Except when you get your vaccination, they make you wear ANOTHER mask on top of your N95 mask. This happened to my wife yesterday.
20   theoakman   2021 Mar 23, 2:15pm

So I've been vaccinated, both shots for over a month. Two people in my household are positive right now for Wuhan since last week. My kid got sick for about 24 hours. My wife, absolutely nothing, but positive. Me, I've been eating his leftover pizza and burgers all week loading up on virus. Nothing. Why the fuck should I wear a mask? I would do better getting additional exposure at this point.

If I have to get a shot, to attend public conferences, then I'd hold out for the J&J one, as it's the closest to an olde school vaccine where the body recognizes the point of insertion and responds accordingly to the "modified" rhinovirus in the region.

I didn't have an option at the time. But as far as the shots go, I had a bad reaction to the first one (fever and chills). Apparently, that's indicative of a previous infection. However, the 2nd shot put me on my fucking ass for 5 days. It was an awful experience. This mRNA dose is likely way to high (for easier logistical distribution). If this technology is going to have legs, it has to be smaller doses over a longer time period IMO.

With all of that time in front of a camera, it might make some wonder if the celebrity bureaucrat has time to actually follow the latest data and statistics on the pandemic. Given his routine blunders, his lack of transparency, and his advocacy for continued shut downs (there are now over 50 published scientific studies that show lockdowns don’t work), it’s safe to say that the NIAID is either ignorant and clueless and/or purposely advocating for measures that do not work to “stop the spread.”

Good news doesn’t control people, which is why Fauci has become exclusively known as the bearer of bad news. Good news is not particularly good for ratings, nor is it good for the prospects of another exclusive appearance with Brian Stelter or Chuck Todd. He prefers to keep viewers afraid, malleable, and on edge. In media hit after media hit, Fauci predictably reminds viewers that there is supposedly an active or imminent crisis in the works. Without a perpetual crisis to shine a light on, the cameras may turn in another direction. Fauci, a seasoned operative, wants the show to continue. When the virus wasn’t scary enough, surely, the “double mutant” virus would keep people compliant. When people started accommodating the COVID vaccine, Fauci pulled the rug out from under them and openly speculated about the possibility of “variants” avoiding the vaccine, thereby making you “vulnerable” once more.

Fauci is having the best year of his life. It has become clear that he desperately wants the show to continue, even if that means demanding that tens of millions of people suffer by conforming to his pseudoscience-based edicts. The TV doctor sure knows how to drive ratings, with the hopes that this is just Season One of his long running hit pandemic series.

No one elected him. How and who can take his power away? Hell, even the red states aren't completely maskless yet.
