Bitcoin has surged to a record $60,000 as stimulus hopes and big-name backers fuel demand

Bitcoin hit a record $60,000 on Saturday, marking a 1,000% gain in the past year.
The cryptocurrency, which boasts a market capitalization of more than $1.1 trillion, has been buoyed by investor optimism. President Joe Biden signed a $1.9 trillion pandemic-relief bill into law on Friday, which will lead to $1,400 stimulus checks being distributed to millions of Americans, fueling hopes that the market boom will continue.

Bitcoin surging to 60k is a milestone that needs to be celebrated! I started with investing 28k back in November. Here we are and my portfolio is at almost 120k! Holy cow! In less then 6months!!! Incredible times!

An online gunstore I just found is now accepting Bitcoin and other crypto currencies. Very cool!

If you haven't taken gains, no one cares. It's just a price on a website that no one here can actually verify that you actually have. #spam #lying

Yeah, its mind-boggling crypto gains. I invested 28k in Bitcoin (and additional funds in Altcoins). Now the $28k Bitcoin portfolio grew to over 100k. In just 5 months! :)

I like when the Bitcoin haters crawl out of their hater-hole and cheer when Bitcoin bounces off support lines. I guess it gives them hope when Bitcoin retraces. Hope seems to be the only thing they have left.....when you predict Bitcoin will go to 1.2K and then it skyrockets to over 50k....all else must have failed :) Right, @WookieMan?

I'll stick with my prediction. Beauty is I'll eventually be right. And if I'm not, who cares, I didn't waste my money on it. I make gains elsewhere outside of a casino. 6 figure gains ;)

You hope for Bitcoin to fail and thats why you are so upset that Tesla invested 1.5B USD into Bitcoin :) It's just the beginning!

If folks who got a stimulus check, invested it in Bitcoin, they would have made over 700% by now! Wow! No wonder its called digital gold, aka best performing asset.

I remember when the BTC haters cheered when BTC dropped temporarily in the 40-50k range.....now we are at an all time high just a few weeks later!

And thank you Tesla!

the Coinbase IPO went well so far. Started with 250 and is trading at 330.

Coinbase will def make a shit ton of money in fees etc during this bull run. I will sitting pretty well by year end if my coins do a 3-5x from here on. Already killed it with some coins like ADA (Cardano).....bought 115,000 coins at 10 cents avg cost....its trading at $1.4 right now :)

There are now over 9000 cryptocurrencies.

New cryptocurrencies are being added on a daily basis.

There is no value to them, only a difference in marketing sets one apart from another in price.

As a reference, there are only about 2800 stocks traded on the NYSE.

Never thought about that. Good point. 2,800 stocks with some form of assets or production of something. 9k cryptos with nothing besides clever marketing and promises of riches behind some "technical" thesis of what is does(n't) do.

This part has been known. Luck will eventually run out at some point and it will be the common person trying to catch a falling arrow once the whales start leaving for the next new thing. The next new thing might not necessarily be crypto either. Trust will be lost in the whole thing at some point.

Re: 9000 crypto currencies; the Wilshire 5000 is also called the “total stock market”.
I consider it the same risk as arbitrage in other currencies vs the US dollar.
I’m always telling my gold bug, silver holder (deep underwater) friend to get a Swiss bank account if he is worried about the dollar falling too fast.

I prefer stocks so I started buying a Swiss stock ETF (FLSW)
It has a low expense ratio compared to the iShares Swiss ETF

When Global Capital has had enough of this nonsense this is likely how they will shut it down.
They will have Greta explain why it has to be done.

China is now Pro Bitcoin :)

https://cointelegraph.com/news/china-endorses-btc-investment-5-things-to-watch-in-bitcoin-this-week

A rare seal of approval from the People’s Bank of China comes as Bitcoin recovers from a price crash that sent it to $52,000.
For Woo and others, particularly important are the transfer of funds to investors who have traditionally hodled, not sold — another classic trait of Bitcoin’s rise in recent months.

Lol, yeah, because they'll just take it from people that have it. China being okay with BTC is bearish. Bit(g) time. They're just extracting wealth from foreign countries via their manufacturing. That includes electric bills. They'll charge Foxcon one rate for Apple products and domestic companies next to nothing. China is only out to take EVERYONES money. They're going to do that through BTC. But hey, continue to be a treasonous traitor to America. I'm sure walking the doggy in smog is enjoyable.

Lol, yeah,

I know its great news. Back in the day, perma-BTC bears pushed the idea that Bitcoin will be banned.....now the US and China are pro-Bitcoin :)
The bullish news just wont end for Bitcoin. Perma-bears even pushed the idea that Tesla just bought 1.5B worth of USD to sell it.....perma-Bitcoin-bears had no evidence for this lie.
I am glad I bought Bitcoin and I will continue to HODL.

Pretty cool. Crypto currency is just another asset class like stocks and RE. It should be part of any smart investor. I recommend 5-25% of your funds to be in Crypto. Personally, I go with 25% because i like increasing my net worth. All tax softwares can now be linked to Coinbase, Robinhood and all the other superior apps/exchanges that allow you to get wealthy with Crypto.

We should be thankful to live in such awesome times where passive income makes you rich relatively quickly!

Thanks Tesla and Thanks Satoshi!!

Crypto is not like a stock according to the Satoshi guy who invented it.
Collectables=antiques, paintings, etc.
Uncle Sam taxes the gain you have when you sell an old painting at Sotheby's for example.
I'm not going to risk 25% of my net worth in something which is "virtual" .

That's actually awful.

You're also not rich based on what you've posted you invested in crapto currency. Your dollar amount of gains are small for the top 5% of the population. And that's assuming you even work a high paying job.

Invest in business and be good at it. A high margin business. My wife's business churns 70-80% profit margins a job. Under $50k marketing expenses and $10M+ gross revenue, non-leveraged. I like those returns. Year after year, with no concern of a massive dip. Just because it's not publicly traded doesn't mean it doesn't absolutely blow away crypto. It does. Mine is about 90% profit at this point due to equipment being paid off.

The beauty of this is I control it. Not some whale with $20M invested that forces my hand. I'm the whale in my niche, not a bitch to the whales. If you haven't taken your gains or aren't playing with house money, you're going to get burned. You can make personal comments and mock people all you want, in the end, I'm right.

You meant to say great (not awful). How can improving your life with passive income be awful. Hard to believe. Then again, it was hard to believe you predicted Bitcoin will go to 1.2k. Lol
