Dude makes a fuck ton of money from Michigan. Being in the midwest we get the come to Michigan advertisements. I've never sought out the agreement, but I think his deal is pretty lucrative. He does voiceover stuff for a lot of other shit too. He doesn't have to act. He's got a unique/strong voice that works for advertising. He's set either way.

I grew up in southwest suburban Chicago until the age of 9, and we would go to Michigan for summer vacations. It was OK.

Then when I was 9 we actually moved to Michigan for my dad's job, and I stayed there through college. It was also OK.

Not great, not awful. There are a lot of lakes, but the climate is basically the same as Chicago. I guess if you go north in the summer it's pretty nice. Still haven't been to Mackinac Island.

But like Tim Allen, I also kinda like that Trump pissed people off.

There are nice parts of Michigan for sure. Has a weird vibe though. Heavy gay population and tourist along the Southwest Lake Michigan towns. Artsy and literally gay. My buddy is a chef near St. Joe, so I got boots on the ground on this topic. I guess for some reason Chicago gays like it over there. Been to the UP but not Mackinac either. Seems kind of overhyped and obviously touristy. Isle Royale NP is one place I want to get to though at some point.

Fuck the traffic getting over there from Chicago or anywhere from the west though. I've only stayed in Indiana once and got accused of stealing $600 from a campground, but I drive through at least 1-2 times a year. Their roads blow and this is a topic I understand. 90/94/80 is a hot fucking mess. That's why Wisconsin is waaaaaaaay better and the 39/90 expansion is almost complete to 3 lanes to the 39/90 split by Portage. Scenery is better there too. Better lakes and forest. Thinking about getting a vacation home up there. Kids activities make it difficult though and not certain we'd use it frequently enough.

At first we used to go back to Chicago to visit friends and relatives each summer. The drive along I-94 was unpleasant iirc. I don't think we had functional air conditioning and there were 6 of us in the car.
