They’re coming for you next: Chase Bank has suddenly decided that it can’t do business with the coffee company, Covfefe Coffee, apparently for the simple reason that the coffee company is unabashedly pro-Trump and supports the standard American values of freedom and liberty that made this nation the haven for the oppressed for more than two centuries.

Chase Bank has abruptly stopped a pro-Trump coffee company from using its payment processing service, WePay, and is currently preventing them from withdrawing any funds.

Covfefe Coffee, founded in 2018, brands itself as “Coffee For Deplorables By Deplorables.” The company, which says their goal is to “provide proud to Americans access to world-class coffee without having to fund your political and cultural opponents,” was informed via email on Wednesday that they would no longer be able to use their payment processing service because payments were “for one or more of the activities prohibited by” their terms of service. [emphasis mine]

Nor has this been all. Amazon suspended the company’s advertising on that platform in 2019 for using the phrase “Make America Great Again,” a phrase that Amazon thinks “incites hate.”

Yes, I posted about this but glad to see it again.

Fuck Chase. I owned stock in Chase but sold it this morning.

Now I am working on removing them entirely from my life forever. I still need to:

1. cancel my personal account there
2. cancel my SWA Visa card because that's through Chase. Fuck the miles. It's more important to have nothing to do with Chase ever again.

I have begin moving my checking from Chase to a local credit union. I will get a much better interest rate in addition to sending a signal to Chase.

I am going to also get a no-fee 1% cash back credit card from the credit union and cancel my Southwest Chase Visa card. I should come out ahead on this as well.

Well, that's just plain, old fashioned theft.

Keep making yourselves unattractive and increasingly irrelevant, banking cartel. I'm sure it'll work out just fine for you...

Fuck Chase Bank

Yes, use your local Credit Union.

Better rates too.

OK, I finally went in to Chase today and told them to give me a cashier's check for my balance and to close the account.

And I made it very clear that this is because Chase is discriminating against customers based on political affiliation.

I deposited the cashier's check at my credit union. Now I get a notice from Chase saying I'm 33 cents overdrawn. WTF?

33 cents? First of all, I asked them to write me a check for my balance, so apparently it was they who fucked up by that small amount.

Second, the cashier's check should clear anyway, because:

A cashier's check is a check guaranteed by a bank, drawn on the bank's own funds and signed by a cashier. Cashier's checks are treated as guaranteed funds because the bank, rather than the purchaser, is responsible for paying the amount. They are commonly required for real estate and brokerage transactions.

As long as that check clears, I hope they do try to come after me for the 33 cents. It would just be a huge waste of their time and money.

Next stop: cancel the SWA Chase Credit card. I already got a credit union credit card with 1% cash back, so I should come out about the same, and will have the stink of Chase out of my wallet completely.

I closed my BofA credit card. Unfortunately, they did not ask why I am closing it. I am also not sure if they actually closed it, as they never mailed me a notice which they said they will do.

Some tips from online to prove a card is closed:

Call customer service a week later and ask them if your account is active or cancelled.

Try logging on to the website and see if it has a "closed" or "inactive" status.

If you continue to receive monthly statements, the account is still open.

After a couple of months, check your credit reports. See if the account is listed as closed or open, and see if the credit card company is still reporting monthly to the credit report.

Take a look at the expiration date on your card. When that date approaches, if your account is still active, they will send you a new card. If it is closed, you won't get a new card.

My Chase branch manager called me this week and I accidentally answered. After a bit of small talk I told him he's wasting his time and that I'll be leaving soon (when I have time to set things up) because they de-bank conservatives.

"Awwww!" was his response. I told him, "Yeah man, nothing on your personally but I don't know why all of these companies are getting so political."

"I don't know either" - response

I told him, "Get woke, go broke" and we ended on okay terms.

I'd just transferred 16 months ago from Wells Fargo because of their scams. Cancelled all my visas last year. Down to some online bank accounts and a mastercard lol...

I recommend credit unions. They're not as polished and professional as the big banks, but they are friendlier and pay much better interest rates.

I use online banks for interest rates. I just want a place that gives me free checking, free checks and atms. I haven't found a credit union that would do that.

I told one that I'd be putting over 100K into their union and asked if I'd get free checks. Nope.

Some of my online banks provide free checks. I just need to get over the idea that I need bricks and mortar in a crisis.

Maybe in your area Credit Unions charge for checking, but not around here:

Also, others, like Pentagon FCU, will even pay interest on checking if you use direct deposit or maintain a daily balance >$500.

Not sure about a free book of the checks themselves, but the cost of 1,000 checks from a third part is cheap.

I insist on having a brick and mortar place I can go to.

My wife said she is reading accounts on nextdoor.com of Chase closing the accounts of individuals too.
