President Trump vowed to build 450 miles of border “wall” — which is more of a series of barriers erected by a succession of U.S. presidents, by the end of his first term.

Trump can say he fulfilled that promise, according to information provided to Yahoo Finance by Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), establishing one of the more expensive and permanent aspects of his legacy.

“As much as the Trump administration is able to construct is going to be the amount that’s there pretty permanently,” Jessica Bolter, an associate policy analyst for the Migration Policy Institute, told Yahoo Finance. “This is a serious permanent infrastructure project that’s going to remain. And while many of the other actions that Trump has taken on immigration can be rolled back through executive action, this is something that it looks like is not going to be rolled back anytime soon.”

According to the latest CBP data, 453 miles of “new primary and secondary border wall system” were built during Trump’s term — though much of that construction involved replacing “dilapidated of outdate designs” as opposed to building wall where it had not been built previously. Another 211 miles are under construction while 74 miles are in the pre-construction phase.

A Mexican minority company will get the no bid contract to tear it down in the Harris/Biden occupation first 100 days.

What Trump did today was pointless. He should be declassifying the damn documents, all of them already.

He went to the border area and spoke to the Border Patrol, talked about mostly the wall. Very short, half hour. He wasn't super feisty full of zip, but didn't look crushed either.

Everything is fucking weird and impossible to read anything.

Which is much more overt and visible act then simply switching off cameras and sensors, understaffing Border Patrol and giving them orders to turn a blind eye to the hordes of illegal aliens. This is why physical wall was/is important.

Haha, Trump has declassified a bunch of documents.

Try to get the intelligence agencies to actually release them. They just ignore Trump's orders. What do you think the "deep state" is?

Trump ran in 2015 as a populist and this (the wall) was his signature issue. I don't remember tax cuts being a big part of his platform and was surprised when he used so much political capital to push them through.

All in all I think Trump is a disappointment. He did a lot of good through EO getting rid of business damping regulations but this was mostly just cancelling Obamas' EO's and that in turn will be negated by Bidens new EO's.

If you recall the GOP had the Senate, the House, and the Executive for 2 years and did not get a lot done. Yes they overturned individual mandate thus taking the teeth out of the ACA but that did nothing to roll back government involvement in what insurance companies had to cover and who had to be covered - which is the real problem with health insurance.

This article may claim 450 miles of border but other sources put the actual number at less than 50 miles of new border walls. I can guess that Anne Coulter is not super popular here but I like how she sticks to her single issue - immigration. She was pro trump until she realized that he was all hat no cattle and then she did a 180. I respect that. I also think she is right. If we actually stopped illegal immigration (and we could) wages would begin to go up - it's simple demographics. We are losing our prosperity and our culture over this one single issue.

As populists go, Trump at least got elected - not many can say that. In hindsight trying to make things better for the average citizen will put you at odds with both parties, the judicial system, and the military. Now that our elections have been south americanized we will never see a true populist again.
