We just got back from skiing in Brian Head, Utah last week. We love that little resort which is easily 1/3 the cost of skiing in a place like Mammoth. Great place for family skiing IMO.

Surfing and long, long walks have been great help in preserving sanity.
However, in contradistinction to the months of smokey horror, we have had a beautiful latter October, November and December into Jan. (this happens every six to eight years or so from drought cycle), so that has helped, too.
