And despite the crazy amount of conspiracy theory...

Pat.net remains by far the most civil place I can discuss politics.

In fact it’s not even close. Leftists are absolutely batshit insane. It’s actually impossible to converse with a Democrat.

Here, people can still have a reasonable conversation. Not everyone has to agree. And that’s ok.

The insanity is everywhere. It's quite hard to believe how pervasive it is. I want to tell myself that it's a a few hundred or so people paid by orgs like "moveon" or "media matters" bombarding sites with propaganda, but I think there really is a large number of people that have been completely brainwashed by the media propaganda.

It's disturbing, to say the least. I don't think a nation can find its way out of a situation like this without the will of the people. Someone riding in on a white horse to save the day saves only that. What happens tomorrow, and the day after? It's a constant slide toward sloth, debauchery, and tyranny until people wake up and take responsibility for themselves and their families instead of demanding government and others do it for them.

Reading the media is stunning. I saw a "Nationwide Manhunt" on ABC/CBS/whatever link on a website talking about the Capitol Building. None of this enthusiasm in either the Media or Bureaucracy for the capture of those who caused the block by block destruction of Portland, Minneapolis, Chicago, including some of the most expensive real estate in the country.

The charges being leveled against the "Insurrectionists" are basically "Unlawful access to restricted property" shit that is a fine and up to a year in jail with most not getting a lick of jail time. And a misdemeanor to boot. "Stealing government property" because they moved a lectern from one room to another.

It's so phony propaganda it's disgusting.

Thanks @FuckTheMainstreamMedia

I try to keep it that way. I think it works because it's small. If patrick.net were huge, I would not be able to deal with the trolls and personal insults at that scale.

I'm a firm believer that when any organization grows to too large a size, it becomes corrupt. Companies, cities, governments, websites, you name it.

Small communities where people know each other always make for a better society.

100% agreed

My wife likes to say "Every large asymmetry in power causes corruption."

I think that's totally true.

Sam Walton had no problem paying 20-year employees on the floor $12/hr back in the early 90s. And Walmarts back then were clean and well staffed, with lots of registers open, not the tornado alley with lines 10 deep most of them look like. Still became a billionaire doing it that way. He was all about the location and the logistics.

But when the founder goes, well, Lee Scott the next CEO was the greatest outsourcer in US History. He used to demand suppliers outsource to China or be cut off.

That's entirely because the limited government people outnumber progressives 10:1 on patnet. It's a matter of I.Q. points. I believe a significant number of us here have put the "blue team/ red team" dichotomy in the rear view mirror. We are the truly woke - and truly fucked.

But now Walmart has been the greatest source of devastation small town America has ever seen, except perhaps for Amazon.

Their efficiencies came with staggering human cost to middle America.

This is an absolute truth. Look at large religious organizations even. Power corrupts. Not only that, but large organizations have $$ and that most certainly corrupts.
