New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday his state will have to raise taxes even if Congress and the White House agree on a coronavirus relief/stimulus package of benefits that provides funding to local governments.

"If Washington gives us some of it, then we're going to have to redo a budget," Cuomo said during a briefing with reporters. "We're going to have to raise taxes — I believe we're going to have to raise taxes, at the end of the day, in any event. The question is, how much in tax?"

This was always the plan politicizing Covid. It was a win win for Dems and the CCP. Hopefully win an election, which they seemingly stole. Or be able to trash Trump if he won because the economy sucks. They'll now raise taxes and line their pockets. Any tax raise, in any state should be met with a decrease in ALL government employees pay.

The funny part is it's going to backfire big time on them. When you tank the economy and tax base to win an election, you still have to deal with the consequences. Biden will go down at the worst POTUS in American history the day he leaves office. Quote this comment and call me out if I'm wrong. Wouldn't be shocked to see the DOW below 20k by the end of 2021.

A bunch of New Yorkers are getting the fuck outta there if Biden gets in.
They are not going to stay to get fucked up the ass for taxes.
They are mostly going to Florida, some to Tennessee.
New Jersey and Connecticut people are leaving too, why someone would ever live in Jersey in the first place amazes me.

The beaches are nice. If you are on welfare or a state government employee there is no reason to leave.

Yes, and under a Biden administration those state/local taxes will deductible from Federal taxes.

I love NJ and we've got a lot of great things going for us. The politicians are the ones killing us here.

Yeah. I have a cousin from there whose teacher retirement (and teacher spouse's) is funded by the local tax donkeys. Sold their home and moved to Florida, where they won't be paying state income tax while they live off the largesse of the taxpayers they left behind.

Shocking News!! Alert the Media!

I don't understand why more taxes are needed - didn't they save oodles of $$$ by defunding the Police?

NYSE Threatens To Abandon New York If Trading Is Taxed

The exchange's President Stacey Cunningham warned Tuesday that the unthinkable was possible, saying the hallowed financial institution on Wall Street could flee if the state imposes a tax on stock trades.

"While New York has remained a center of gravity for the financial industry, many employees of 'Wall Street' firms are migrating to Florida, Texas and other states with hospitable tax policies," Cunningham wrote in a column published in The Wall Street Journal.

She praised a 1981 decision by New York state to stop collecting a tax on stock trades, but warned, "If lawmakers opt to reinstate that tax, the NYSE may need to follow the lead of those relocating firms. Some of our customers are already asking about our willingness to relocate."

Senior New York state legislators have signaled interest in enacting a tax on stock sales to address a dire budget shortfall amid the coronavirus downturn.

New York's budget director, Robert Mujica, recently suggested a transactions tax would be fruitless for New York because it would drive the business out of the state.

"The only nexus you have with the stock transfer tax is the idea that the transactions occur in the state because the computer servers happen to be here," Mujica said in a January 19 press conference. "Move the servers, you move the transaction, you don't collect anything from the tax."

Cunningham last week co-signed a letter from some 25 securities industry leaders criticizing taxes on stock trades.

In her op-ed, Cunningham pointed to examples in recent history of how taxes on stock trading imposed by France and Sweden drove business to London.

"The securities industry should stay in the Big Apple where it belongs," Cunningham wrote.

"But if New York is to remain the financial capital of the world, it needs to avoid the folly of this tax and show that it truly understands how market forces work."

They spent that on diversity officers.

What about all of those useless old eaters and medical expense disasters he put 6 feet under? Didn't that save lots of money?

Cuomo's useful idiot days are over. They'll need a crowbar to pry him away from the place he thought he had at the table.

"B-b-b-but, you promised me? After all I did to keep Covid tyranny alive for the mail in ballots!"

Too bad they won't have all that Amazon City stuff to increase taxes on.

Not a big meme guy. They make me laugh for sure. This is one of the best I've seen, at least in this moment in time. Because we all know nothing will happen. It will be blamed on Trump. The guy left office, he's gone.

The media made fuck tons of money off Trump and his persona. People are now tuning out. Ad revenue will be down. They're panicking to try and make everything about Trump instead of focusing on Biden because he's boring.

Anyone wanna set an online wager, no actually money, but a "bet" that Trump gets his Twitter reinstated? They're shedding users big time. I'm guessing in May sometime, maybe May 5th ;) as a salute to the criminals and rapist? I'll bet $100 patnet dollars it happens before that date. Anyone with the over or not thinking it happens at all?

I want the over to come in because that means Twitter is toast for sure. But I think reinstating him will bring tons of users back to the platform AKA revenue and keeping shareholders happy.
19   Misc   2021 Feb 18, 8:55am

Even if they "let" him back, he won't use them. He'd rather start his own business.
20   Ceffer   2021 Feb 18, 9:35am

Cuomo has been caught stealing jewelry and gold teeth from dead nursing home patients for a rainy day fund. He knows he's toast.
21   Booger   2021 Feb 18, 9:40am

No way Twitter let's Trump back. They would rather go under. Libtards are stupid like that.

Board and shareholders though? Trump was literally probably 5-20% of their revenue. Some people aren't going to be happy as we know it's all fake outrage once the rubber meets the road.

The board doesn't care about the shareholders. The only thing that they know is "Orange Man Bad".

https://babylonbee.com/news/chris-cuomo-reports-slow-news-day

NEW YORK CITY, NY—Chris Cuomo reported a slow news day during his hit TV show Cuomo Prime Time last night, as there was nothing of interest to report on.

"Yeah, wow... this is kind of embarrassing, but there's literally no interesting news to report on today," said Cuomo to millions of adoring hospital waiting rooms across the country. "If there was anything going on, like the Governor of my state—who also happens to be my brother—being outed as a pervy weirdo who preys on women like a greasy Italian skeezball stereotype, I would totally report on that. But there's nothing like that at all going on."

There was an awkward pause, as Cuomo had no more material for his hour-long slot.
