California Gov. Gavin Newsom has already survived five long-shot recall attempts in his two years in office, but those close to him are reportedly worried that the current recall effort amidst frustration over his handling of the coronavirus pandemic could prove successful.

Near the bottom of a Politico report on Newsom's chief of staff Ann O'Leary preparing to depart Sacramento for a potential job in the Biden administration rests this spicy nugget: "As Newsom begins his third full year in office, the governor’s team is increasingly concerned with a long-shot conservative recall that could mushroom into a major threat in 2021 if it attracts significant financial support."

The report also states, "Sources close to Newsom said the governor's office has been disorganized over the past month and has not responded effectively to damaging headlines" including his French Laundry trip, controversial new stay-at-home order and delay in naming Vice President-elect Kamala Harris' replacement in the United States Senate. In addition, most of the state's public schools remain closed while they are open in other deep blue states such as New York and Massachusetts, and small business owners were particularly irate over the lack of evidence presented to support certain business closures.

The Chronicle's Phil Matier talked to some of the recall leaders for his Wednesday column, and organizers agree that with more financial support, they could probably garner enough signatures to force the state's first recall election since Gray Davis was recalled in 2003.

“Every day he gives us a new and interesting reason for people to sign,” retired Yolo County Sheriff’s Department sergeant and recall leader Orrin Heatlie told Matier.

“If we could get another million dollars in donations we could probably get this done,” fellow recall leader Mike Netter said.

Organizers have until March 17 to gather 1,495,709 valid voter signatures to force a recall election. They say they already have 800,000, but will need a large infusion of cash to get the last 500,000.

Concerned about a recall? Just a recall? That's all he's worried about?

These people really do live in their own little bubble. They can't understand or empathize with those they crush under their heel of authoritarianism. They fail to see the anger, the hatred, and the desperation among the peons who have less and less to lose with each right that gets stripped away from them.

If I were in this fool's shoes, I'd be absolutely terrified.

He should be somewhat concerned about the possibility of assassination.

These lockdowns have destroyed many people's lives. Some of them have nothing left to lose. I live in commiefornia. Small business has been taking a beating. Bars I used to hang out at will never re-open. I've seen 2 breweries go under - Tide House is gone and so is the Campbell Brewery. A ton of small shops have disappeared, one was a speciality shop that was scraping by selling sarres (Indian women's traditional dress). A know several small food places that are struggling. A Petco and a Walgreens is gone.

If Newsom was murdered, I wouldn't even be slightly shocked by it and a doubt many Californians would be upset. He's King Asshole here.

If the 6th time isn't the charm, fuck California, I hope the entire state falls into the ocean.

Gavin can drown his sorrows at the bar at the French Laundry; I believe it is called the bidet, with a cocktail they concocted in his honor- the Douche. ‘I was gonna be the President.’

It is absolutely disgusting that you would need 1 red cent to get this done. Shit is fucked up and bullshit.

Well, the Douche has a shot at Vice President, when picked for that position by Kamala after Biden is removed.

The Douche at full strength will leave you locked down, unemployed, celebrating holidays alone, and wearing a funny mask.

I appreciate the thought, but here's the problem, if you work in a "high tech" you end up with a very limited number of corporations and areas you can work for. Because once I very stupidly thought I was "smart" I wanted to work in cutting edge "high tech" and as a result, either I work for the MIC or I work for these fucking assholes here in Silly Con Valley.

lol, similar boat here. Exit plan is in place, but maybe taking advantage of the crashing rents for 1 or 2 more years. On the upside many assholes left, bringing the blue vote of destruction to other states, SF is more charming when empty.

TrumpingTits says
What I don't understand is that conservatives are pushing this.

I mean, why?

When there is a recall vote there is also an election for his possible replacement.

And we all know that this fucked up state will vote for the Democrat that runs 'against' him.

At this point it is very possible that they are rigging the vote in CA as well as many workers are pissed that they can't feed their families due to the draconian lockdowns.

There's no Ahnuld Governator to snag the Governorship away from them in any upcoming recall election this time. None that can be elected in this batshit crazy "I vote for Democrat no matter what...duh!" Most Bluetarded of Bluetard states.

The article says: "San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer has been positioning himself to challenge Newsom in 2022, and would likely spring at the chance to run in a potential recall election in 2021".

We have some SD dudes on this site, maybe they will chime in.

He reminded me of Hillary exempting herself from the rules using her private server for government work.
