Covid seems to be an effective vaccine/cure for the seasonal flu while removing boomers with prejudice.

I guess it's November, but I've always thought of flu season as not kicking in real hard until January through May roughly. Kind of like hurricane season. They can happen in December and June, but it's unlikely.

Going to Cancun on Monday. I feel like shit today. Hoping I don't have anything. Whatever. It's manageable, I'll wear a mask, wash hands and not lick people... lol.

Or maybe it is because the boomers have been in lock down, whether in nursing homes or their own?

Also, taking the flu vaccine helps fight Covid because the vaccine jacks up your white cell count as part of the flue antibody buildup process. So a lot more people have been taking it. My doctor had me do so and I am not a Boomer but GenX.

True but there's also ADE you have to be careful about, at least with the coming Covid vaccine, not sure how prevalent it is with the flu. Most of us are Gen Xers here or older, I have never taken the flu vaccine but I believe it's overall worse than Covid (from young to old) and worth vaccinating against if you want to play it safe, the problem is they have to guess the strains and are often wrong.

I think they're mostly wrong. Fact is a bad season is still like 80k deaths. Covid approaching a year at this point, with no vaccine and bad treatment at first is 2.5-3x's as bad as a bad flu season. It sucks, but put in perspective it's really not that bad statistically without a vaccine. With better treatment and a 60-70% successful vaccine, the flu is substantially more dangerous still in say 12-24 months. We don't shut down for that.

(I know you know this, just bitching. So done with Covid at this point)
5   mell   2020 Nov 12, 5:11pm

So 160k Covid cases today allegedly (PCR positive). what's the point of tracing anymore - or masks? If these are real and not fake infections at this clip rate we will reach herd immunity in a few months, same time when the vaccine supposedly comes out for general availability. And why do I get the feeling flu cases are classified as Covid? Ah yes, flu nowhere to be found. I don't know a single person of any degree in my network who has gotten the flu yet, and it's mid November.
6   RWSGFY   2020 Nov 12, 6:45pm

Is there even a test for flu?
7   mell   2020 Nov 12, 7:10pm

Yeah - PCR (like covid) test becoming more common which can identify the strain, A or B, probably also more specific. They're routine lab tests and often done on hospital settings when patients come with pneumonia like symptoms to differentiate treatment of ABx vs AVs.

What was the point from the start? Masks obviously aren't doing anything. My nurse friends haven't gotten it (about 5 of them) and have been exposed dozens of times. Yet I have friends that have it right now that wear masks and have been staying home that somehow got it. None of it adds up.

I'm asking everyone I know that gets it, do they have an idea of from where from. They weren't around anyone that tested positive previous or after they got it. How is that possible? I currently think I have something. If it's Rona this a complete joke on day 3 of "potential" symptoms. I always get a cold this time of year though as temps drop in Chicagoland.

I always go back to China. Everyone says "how could this be a worldwide conspiracy...." How could a shit hole with 1/5 of the worlds population have not lost millions at this point? Even with Draconian lockdowns. Nothing adds up with this virus.

Sure it does. It's the sniffles.

It's just a convenient excuse as we go through an economic reset, and a worldwide credit collapse.

If there's a credit collapse there's no hiding it. IMO. Europe and USA are getting trashed by the virus, but China doesn't? Like I've said, nothing adds up with this virus. First world countries are being decimated by it, but shit hoe China has like 5k deaths in a country of 1.4B? Math matters. It ain't adding up currently.

Back in March or April there was a report about roughly 2 mil of cell phone ## going inactive in China. And this is in the country where you can't fucking function w/o one so the idea of 2 mil people suddenly deciding they don't want a cell phone anymore does not fly.

Yep. Social distancing works.

This is part of it. Regardless of how I "feel" about anyone here, I'd say most of you guys (maybe some gals) seem intelligent. At least functioning at or above a college educated level. Can spell and have solid grammar (we all make mistakes from time to time).

How in the flying fuck did we get to the above image??? This is literally where we're at here in IL. Outdoor tents are okay, but dining inside is not? This is not logical for something that kills old unhealthy people. Kind of like the existing flu already does. We're one outdoor space heater fire away from them shutting even this down after 20 people die from a burning and melting tent.

Then there's masks stop the spread but then we're spreading at levels not seen when we weren't wearing masks and going to sporting events, concert, etc. We don't get to do any of that now and we're at critical levels or whatnot of covid spread. The masks and distancing didn't work. Clearly at all.

It's time to let this fucker just go. Stop trying to squash it through measures that clearly don't work. Anyone with a working brain above 3rd grade level knows this. When my son asks me questions that I cannot explain to him about Covid because they're so stupid and he knows it's stupid, we have a problem.

The last "stimulus" that was created about 5 trillion dollars. Let's say, for the sake of argument, every man, woman, child in the United States got their $1,200 "stimulus check". There's 330 million people so that is 330*$1,200 = $396,000 million - $396 million = 0.396 trillion dollars.

5 - 0.396 = 4.604 trillion dollars went elsewhere - where did it go?

Your friendly criminal banking syndicate, mostly.

The US had repo failures last year in September, this "pandemic" is used for cover, it's also used for election fraud, and whatever else is useful to use it for. It's not used to keep us safe. They couldn't give a crap about that.

People are duped easily. I just don't care anymore.

Here, I can tell you how to explain it to your son.

"Son, you see we placed too much faith in our government and Americans are VERY apt to trust authority no matter how crazy the order is. This isn't the land of the free, the brave or any of that nonsense - that's just told to you to convince you that you're free, and would be brave enough to resist tyranny - but you're not. Neither am I. Neither are 99.99% of Americans. You see, we're asked to do these ridiculous things just to see if we will follow ridiculous orders - which of course we will. Our slavemasters don't care about our health, and they don't believe in any of this nonsense either"

www.youtube.com/embed/ndafeJrHYGA

"Also son - don't voice this to any of your friends or even other adults - they will deny this reality adamantly and try to convince you I don't know what I'm talking about - hope you don't mind being a slave BTW - we gave up the country entirely 20 years ago"

But here's the bitch of it - I don't have to tell your son, I have to tell YOU. You don't realize this yet. They'll order us to only hop on our left foot with our right finger stuck up our nose and 99% of the population will do it without complaint and they not only won't complain, but will scream if I refuse to do it, telling me I'm selfish and putting the population at risk.

The tent with all walls closed has no more "fresh air circulation" than a regular building. Probably even less because there is no ac and/or fans.
19   mell   2020 Nov 13, 4:23pm

Yeah the fresh air circulation is the inspiration for the tents which can make sense. Although at this point we're steering hard and fast towards herd immunity anyways, so it's probably useless now.

This virus doesn't even have a 1% mortality rate. Do you really think they shut down the world economy over that?

Since when did the government give a SHIT about the welfare of their citizens?

If you think these lockdowns are being done to protect society, you're just wrong. They don't care about that.

Let's be clear, outdoor dining is the safer alternative if you do care at all whether you want to contract it or not. Also many don't have a choice, if they test positive, even if they have no symptoms, they can't work, go to their treatment and are shut out of society. Not everybody can afford that. I'm against government mandates and have long maintained it's done to control the population and make it more obedient, see how far they can go. That being said, even when they opened up 25% indoors briefly, I kept dining outdoors in the.parklets with the gas heaters. So I think it's a good idea as an option, not a mandate. Not the tent, but a true outdoor parklet. Plus many SF restaurants have horrible ventilation inside anyways and probably rotting walls.

Not only that, you just have to push the right insecurity buttons and they become enraged zombies who fight for you to the death.

You have to wonder what profound insecurities Apocalypsefuck has to trigger a slide into frothing dementia at the mere mention of Trump.

Yes, America is back - back at fucking war. Never-ending fucking stupid fucking war, that never goddamn fucking ends.

wonderful.

Can't find the funds for a border wall between Mexico and the United States, but money pisses down out of the heavens for another goddamned useless war. No limit on money for that.

Trump is a REALTOR. Enough said.

Lol, he's not, but maybe the association of Trump with owning property confused AF.
