Another Walgreens is permanently shutting down in San Francisco.

The drugstore at 790 Van Ness Ave. had been dealing with rampant shoplifting, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, amounting to up to $1,000 in lost merchandise every day. Thefts were often brazen and carried out in broad daylight.
...
Walgreens spokesperson Phil Caruso confirmed to SFGATE the store would close Nov. 11 and prescription files will automatically transfer to the Walgreens store at 1301 Franklin St.
After a short stint of added security from two police officers and a squad car outside the store, the thieves returned amid the pandemic. Theft of less than $950 in goods is treated as a nonviolent misdemeanor under California law.

This is at least the eighth store in the city to be closed by the drugstore chain since the beginning of 2019.

In San Francisco the inmates are running the asylum.

It’s a nice place to visit, but you wouldn’t want to live there.

Fuck San Francisco!

Nice place to visit? Have you been there recently? Even the touristy areas have bums and crazy people shitting all over the place. I've been travelling to SF for work for 25+ years. I noticed it was really turning to shit 5 years ago when I was sitting in a Starbucks killing time before a meeting when an obviously drunk or high black woman came in and started accosting the customers and no one would do a thing about it.

high black woman

Does it really matter if she was black (maybe she was not even really a she?)?

Just asking.

Why should it be omitted? If this is who xe was this is how it should be reported.

Yes. With that high-caliber bonus modifier, she can't be criticized by others and is nearly impervious to the law, too. For example, on this site a few weeks ago we had a video of a shopper yelling, screaming, and threatening a store clerk at Walmart for having the gall to call police when someone with the special skin color walked out of the store without paying for merchandise he was carrying.

As for gender, it's common in English language usage to specify the gender. Maybe that's an unfortunate aspect of having gendered pronouns, but that's the way the language is. Given that being high or drunk has different connotations for adults and children, it would seem rather awkward to call the person an "adult human" or an "adult person."

As for gender

I cannot be sure about the gender of any street person in SF. Since they're sort of freaks, I think it's OK to use "it" in place of a gender specific pronoun.

Grammar tip: "high school teacher" means a teacher who is high. You probably wanted to write "high-school teacher." :-)

Lol, I used to work just a block or so from this one, have been in there. But now the liberal giveaway of all their merchandise has killed them:

Agreed, it used to be a great city and while some cracks (pun intended) have always been there, it had some sort of revival for a few years after the 2008 recession cleared the riff raff and hipsters out, but by 2015 at the latest the leftoid retard policies kicked into overdrive and the empire of hobos, crackhead and criminals struck back. Never go full retard.

They should put a VERY large sign outside that says

"This Walgreens location has closed due to extremely high theft rates caused by the recently enacted law 102.1xxx which decriminalized theft under $1000, and police being forbidden from arresting thieves in this area."

Voters should know.

Even if they don't post the truth, someone else should do it, pasting the truth on that plywood.

Leftists are trying to assert that property crime is DOWN in San Francisco.

I shit you not.

18   Onvacation   2021 May 24, 2:42pm

Reported crime is down.

Prosecuted crime is way down.

Exactly, cops don't even show up and take your case if there is a smash and grab car or home burglary. Glad to be out of this shithole.

It's science, why, just look at the property crime numbers in San Fran. Down, down, down!
21   Ceffer   2021 May 24, 7:04pm

Yup. Cops in SF don't even record most reports of property crime, they just tell you to call your insurance. In a citizens' meeting in China Town on You Tube, the cops at the meeting acknowledged it. There is SO MUCH property crime, they have just chosen to ignore it and leave the populace on its own and use resources for violence or accidents.

If there is no tangible interpersonal violence or serious accident, no crime. The burglars and thieves have been fully deputized by the DA. As have the hookers and drug dealers.

It's been that way in Baltimore City for decades.
23   WookieMan   2021 May 25, 4:28am

I've said something similar before, but get the F out of any city/town larger than 10k people. Even that is too much. Money corrupts and the larger the city, the larger the corruption.

Small towns can be shady, but the magnitude is exponentially less compared to larger more populous locations. There's also the fact the one guy in a small town literally can make a change as a citizen. That doesn't happen in big places without hundreds if not thousands of supporters for the issue.
