The student at Weber State University, Utah, could barely fit his tongue back in his mouth because it had swollen so much.
He uploaded a video to social media site TikTok, where it has went viral with over 11 thousand comments from users offering hilarious solutions to his problem.
In the video, which has been viewed 5.3 million times, he said: 'I'm wondering if anyone has ever had this happen before?'
The student explains what happened to his mouth with great difficulty, as his speech is distorted due to how large his tongue has gotten.
He added: 'I was eating a muffburger, and I was eating it, and I was almost finished my first one when I felt this pain on my tongue.
