The cops came to his house and ordered the party to end. It didn’t and the owner encouraged guests to stay in defiance of the police directive.
As far as sentencing, none of the articles mention Myers prior criminal history. Stuff like this doesn’t tend to result in lengthy sentences unless the guy getting arrested has prior convictions.

The police don’t have a right to do that. We still have freedom of assembly last time I checked.
Now I 100% obey all laws and police instructions because I don’t want to go to jail and am a coward, but good for him for defying an illegal law. Don’t try to defend what happened to him.
Hopefully he gets a good lawyer and takes this to the Supreme Court, then comes back and sues the shit out of everyone. This needs to happen or else this will set a very bad precedent.

My thought exactly. This Covid lockdown shit cannot be allowed to happen ever again. If you're not interfering with others around you or visibly committing a crime on your private property, cops have zero authority to do anything. They would need a warrant.
Admittedly I didn't read the story, so if the guy was being a douche and playing loud music and pissing neighbors off the cops can do something. We were having Covid driveway fires in May at the peak of lockdown. We'd get 10-20 neighbors and we'd all bring our own fire pit, drink, listen to music and keep our distance from each other. Cops didn't care and would stop and talk with us. That's how it should be.
