Can't bring a new one from out-of-state (unless moving between states). I has to have at least 7500 miles on the odo. Not a big deal, but if you absolutely insist on buying new cars - no soup for you.

My interpretation is that selling used cars in CA would still be in accordance with this law, so that's where used cars will go.

Yes, but "used" for the purpose of importation is not defined as "had been previously registered" but "has been previously registered and has at least 7500 miles on the odo".

California’s Gavin Newsom Bans Gas-powered Vehicles, Effective 2035

I work in the EV industry sort of.

First of all Nauseam won't be governor then, it's just political pandering 15 years away.

Second of all, I don't think EVs are actually realistic - at least not yet. They are a status symbol, not a solution.

Third, California doesn't have the infrastructure to charge vehicles. I'm an expert in the DIN and 15518-2 spec. It's a bunch of pure bullshit. The "architects" that wrote it have absolutely no idea what the fuck they are talking about. They are talking about having charged vehicles power the grid - there's one thing they forgot to do though, is include in the digital communication protocol a way to drain the battery into the grid. They are fucking retards. Most incompetent architects with the worst standard I've ever seen, in my entire career. I'm 49.

Vehicle From Out of State Purchases – Can You Register It in California?

The Bottom Line

If you are a California resident and acquire a new car, truck, or motorcycle from another state, it must be certified to meet California smog laws to be registered in California. This includes certain diesel-powered vehicles. The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) cannot accept an application to register a vehicle in California that does not qualify for registration (California Health and Safety Code §§43150 – 43156).

What is Considered a New Vehicle?

California considers any vehicle with less than 7,500 miles on the odometer at the time of purchase or trade by a California resident or business, to be a new vehicle. This is true whether or not the vehicle has been registered in another state.

Aren’t All Vehicles California Certified?

Not all new vehicles are manufactured to be sold in California. Many manufacturers make vehicles to be sold only in the other 49 states. These vehicles (49-state) are made with smog equipment that meets federal emission standards, but not California standards. California-certified (50-state) vehicles are made to be sold in California.

Check the Label

To find out whether a car, truck, or motorcycle is California certified, check the emission label under the hood. For a motorcycle, check the frame or refer to your owner’s manual for the location. The label should read that the vehicle conforms to California regulations, or that it is legal for sale in California.

Exemptions

There are a few exemptions to the law. As a California resident, you may be able to register a 49-state vehicle if it was:

Obtained as part of a divorce, inheritance, or legal separation settlement.
Purchased to replace your California registered vehicle that was stolen while you were using the vehicle out-of-state.
Purchased to replace your California registered vehicle that was destroyed or made inoperative beyond reasonable repair while you were using the vehicle out of state.
An emergency vehicle, pursuant to California Vehicle Code §§27156.2 and 27156.3.
Registered by you in the state of your last active military service outside California.
A street motorcycle or motor-driven cycle year model 2005 and older, with an engine less than 50 cubic centimeters (cc) displacement. Beginning January 1, 2006, street motorcycles and motor-driven cycles year model 2006 and newer, with engines less than 50 cc displacement, require an emission label certifying them to meet U.S. Environmental Protection Agency emission regulations, and may be registered regardless of mileage.

Does This Apply to Someone Moving to California?

If you are moving to California from another state, you may register a new 49-state vehicle if it was first registered by you in your home state, or for military personnel, in the last state of your military service. When applying for vehicle registration in California, you must provide evidence that the vehicle was registered.

https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/driver-education-and-safety/educational-materials/fast-facts/buying-a-vehicle-from-out-of-state-can-you-register-it-in-california-ffvr-29/

PS. So your best bet would be to drive your old jalopy to Navada, wrap it around a tree and buy whatever new car you want. This way you can bring it back to CA sans certification and other BS.

One thing I like about the proposal is that it cuts down funding for terrorism. Almost all terrorism on earth is Wahhabi Sunni Muslims paid by Saudi Arabia or Qatar, and they get their money from oil

On the other hand, if we don't buy the oil, that just makes it cheaper for China, and they will buy it.

That was going to hit a critical threshold even if they didn't have problems generating electricity. At a certain point the number of EVs will be such that the grid will have to have massive upgrades to be able to handle all that charging.

Which the US doesn't buy from. The US is now s net oil exporters and even before that we pretty much imported our oil from Nigeria and Venezuela. California imports from the ME, actually. As does Hawaii (but that makes sense given Hawaii's location and not part of ConUS).

Do you remember when citizen Trump once Tweeted that climate change was a hoax for the benefit of China? It sounded crazy to most of the world. Then we learned that the centerpiece of politics around climate change -- the Paris Climate Accord -- was hugely expensive for the United States and almost entirely useless for lowering temperatures. (Experts agree on both points now.) The accord was a good deal for China, in the sense that it would impede its biggest rival, the United States, while costing China nothing for years.

Win Bigly, page 66

I do think Trump was right. China is using climate change as a way to disadvantage us as a competitor.

PSPS events and other unplanned outages of electricity will cripple a majority EV transportation fleet. But that they don’t care, the goal is more Fucking Control.

Cannot get to work, doctors office, hospital, kids to school (hahahaha, like that will be back by 2040), parts for repair of their house, etc. The demand for large kW backup generation is going to go through the roof if people with EVs are going to want to be prepared.

"Professor" John Searl says it's right around the corner:

He's been scamming people for his entire life. What's funny, is that a ton of his early "video proofs" have been duplicated and explained. In one, he was letting a viscous fluid "float upward" - what he had actually done, was turn the camera upside down, and nail a table to the ceiling.

Imagine spending your entire lifetime, just bilking money out of people who aren't very suspicious and don't know anything about science.

He just needs a little more money to make his perpetual energy generator, even though in the 1960's he claimed his house was running on one. It was confiscated by the government of course, and now he's not able to rebuild it for some reason.

The 2035 is set far enough in the future that it is unrealistic, and just for political pandering. If Newsome really wanted to get gasoline cars off the road, or at least have less polluting cars, he would slap on an additional $2 per gallon gas tax. Then like Europe, we would have a plethora of 1 liter displacement tiny cars.

Newsom Bans Cars To Prevent People From Escaping California

SACRAMENTO, CA—In a move to prevent Californians from fleeing by the millions, Gavin Newsom announced a ban on gasoline automobiles this week.

The law will make it so that Californians can't drive away and escape the state in a matter of hours, forcing them to instead form migrant caravans and make the treacherous trek across the blistering deserts of the Southwest.

"Now, they'll have to cross the desert on foot," Newsom said as he handed down the order. "I'll show them to flee my progressive utopia! Ha ha ha ha ha!"
