In related news here in silicon valley, has everyone been enjoying the cooling effect of all this smoke? It sure is nicer than the week before when the thermometer hit 106.

Choking smoke in 70 degree weather is certainly preferable to choking smoke in 100 plus degree weather.

Actually, here in the south bay the smoke is high in the atmosphere. At groundlevel there isn't much smell or irritation. That's different from the ground-level smokeouts a few weeks ago. The fires aren't particularly close, so we're just getting general smokiness when the wind is blowing the wrong direction. It'll be clear one day and smoky the next and then back to clear the third.
