There's this pseudo-gentlemen's agreement where the EC needs to abide by the state popular vote and that's simply not true.
In fact, there was nothing Al Gore Junior could have done in 2000, to force a re-count if the State Supreme Court & Legislature decided against it.
A lot of ppl don't realize that the "theft of FL 2000" was legally ok by the Constitution. I mean really, how could a major election by decided by a mere 517 w/o an investigation of some sorts? But unfortunately, that's not for the public to decide and the Supreme Court stood by the State of FL.
