Got this email today from an ambulance chaser.

I always wondered what in the fuck was wrong with people that they would shove expensive pharmaceuticals down their gut, when a simple solution of 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda and 1/2 teaspoon Vitamin C in an 8 ounce glass of water has knocked out every indigestion, heart burn, upset stomach and hangover queasy felling I've ever had.

The problem with all acid reducers is that stomach acid is necessary for the body/digestion/intestines to function, it actually keeps harmful bacteria, virus and fungi (many people on acid reducers deveiop candida) in check. Acid reflux is a problem of flux, not of excessive stomach acid. It's logical that you increase your chances for any kind of long-term diseases incl. cancer if you suppress stomach acid. i would never recommend to anyone taking a pharma grade long-term acid reducer.

This used to be my go to Antacid before my Italian Deli closed down and I can't get it. It was pricey but made a great effervescent concoction.

Now I use Picot because it's readily available in many stores.

When I'm out of that, I make my own I mentioned in the OP.

Good stuff - Tums are ok as well as their active ingredient calcium carbonate is a precursor for sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). Not as good as the stuff above but not damaging like the acid reducers.
