Rogan just announced he's moving to TX.

He cited some reasons for moving
- center of the country, so easier to goto to travel throughout usa.
- LA is over crowded
- CA is restrictive
- CA taxes too high
- and lastly, more freedom

I think he's scared. He sees what the rage mob is doing in Seattle and Portland, and he sees how LA politicians are siding w/ BLM and agreed to defund the police, and happily stoke the anti-police sentiment fire. He knows the potential for what can happen in a place like LA if mob rule escalates. Especially for people like him, because his business is talking, and he talks a lot. Even if he quit talking today, he risks angering someone for things he said in the past.

IMO he knows the leftists are out of control, and is fleeing LA. It's ironic IMO, because Rogan is himself a lefty. Some of his views sometimes throw people off because he can sound like a conservative in some cases due to his libertarian views, but he is a lefty, and Bernie was his first Presidential pick. Sometimes on his show you'll see his intolerance when he gets angry at his guests' differing opinion on a heated social issue.

Him and his left wing ilk has been voting blue in CA forever, and dems always support these measures to increase density in big cities, while reducing freedoms, and quality of life. Now he flees to TX, where he will surely continue to vote like a dumb shit.

Joe Rogan’s reason #1: he saves $10 million in income tax by moving to Texas.

I recall the pro golfer Phil Nicolson teasing Tiger Woods for living in Florida and how he was happy in La Jolla paying California taxes.

I believe Phil has since moved to Florida.

More people will flee CA. It will become a hellhole except for a few localized nice spots such as wine country and places along highway 1. Even Monterrey should consider itself in danger should the leftoids take control.

Ah, I didn't know they had zero income tax.

The lefties go nuts about Texas’ high property tax. But like all lefties, their opinion is horribly short sighted and omits relevant information.

One place I looked at in Dallas is appx the equivalent of the nicer parts of West Covina, CA(a formerly majority white now majority Latino middle class to upper middle class suburb about a 15-20 mile drive outside downtown LA, with a fairly large contingency of nice 2500-5000 sq foot home neighborhoods). The Dallas place was $325k...2800 sq ft on a 10,000 sq ft property. The same in West Covina is $1-1.3 million and carries a way higher property tax bill than the Texas place.

It’s one of the stupider arguments the Democrats make. Who GAF about a higher property tax rate when the effective housing cost is 1/3 to 1/5?

I love in socal, if I didn't have the golden handcuffs I would flee. Thinking about establishing a footprint in another state. I can tell you that all the wealthy people we know are starting to at least get another property in another state in anticipating moving legal residency.

I'm in real estate, referred a couple clients out of state. Top areas - Boise, Salt Lake City, North Carolina.

I get real estate ads on Facebook.

Today I chuckled at the two I saw: 1. Santa Cruz bungalow 1600 square feet, $1 million 2. Florida small house, I think near Tampa, $160,000.

California is much prettier and has a good climate, but think how much fun you can have with the $840,000.

Interesting that either house will impress the girls enough, and the 840K even more so.

I live in a $435k home (probably closer to $550k since I purchased it) in NJ. I pay $11k in property taxes. The property taxes in Texas are a joke.

They also go nuts about CA "low" property tax.

CA has some insane taxes too. Not because it’s high, but because prices are high and ducking teachers union gets more taxes suckered in every few years here on new suckers voting in more of it.

The property tax on a Florida place you live in (not absentee landlord) can be in the $900/year range.

The tax on a similar place in Santa Cruz will be about $11,000/year because the place cost a million bucks.

It’s likely cheaper to be a Florida resident and avoid the taxes and just rent in California for a few months per year, avoiding the shitty rainy winters.

Why would anyone with real money ... live in CA?

I mean the whole point of having money is to be able to live anywhere one wants and then, stay at hotels around the world, for business or entertainment.

Seriously, why do Hollywood stars pluck cash on estates in places like Bel Air or Malibu instead of just showing up in town for a movie or awards ceremony? This is where I concur with bozo directors like M.Night Shyamalan, who's spent his cash on a mansion outside of his hometown/city of Philadelphia, and flies all around to make movies.

Trust me, a mansion near King of Prussia PA costs peanuts next to Bel Air CA.

If we're worth $35MM and pulling in $5M / year, you don't really worry about wasting $0.25MM a year on a shack in Malibu. It's not your main residence, so you aren't wasting $0.5MM every year on in-state California income taxes.

But, yeah, comparisons of different tax schemes in different states often list California as merely "moderate" in property tax based on percentage tax rate. Those comparisons fail to note that a 1% tax on a $1MM shack is $10k whereas a 4% tax on a (nicer) $200k house in Texas is only $8k. Same goes for state income taxes... Illinois has a flat tax of something like 5%, but any non-retired person earning a decent living in California (or, especially, in Silicon Valley), very gets into California's 9.3% income tax bracket at $58k income (single). Try buying a $1MM shack on income less than $120k/year, which would be enough to put you ahead of Illinois income tax.

Rogan isn't just leaving for economic reasons because he actually is in the financially immune class who could 'stay' in California and theoretically shelter from the bullshit, however expensive.

He said on one show that there were years of incremental deterioration, but the last couple of years, things have just slid off a cliff and the entire irreversible trend is downward.
Southern Cal is outlandishly crowded, and it isn't with the kind of people you want to be crowded with. He seems genuinely concerned about quality of life issues, time management, and ability to run his business interests without the progressive put. The future is not golden. From somebody who talks with a lot of aware and informed people, that is quite an indictment of the state.

Victor Hansen had a you tube video that scared the shit out of me for the first time one of his videos has done so about what the progressives and postmoderns have planned for the country and the government, should the idiopolous continue to be so dense that they keep voting them in. California is already so doomed, it appears, that it is not the place you want to be when this bolshevik shit really hits the fan. The recent stuff with riots and Covid is patty cake by comparison with what is on the agendas. Their plan is to re-write or abolish the Constitution as it is, and especially repeal the second amendment to keep the people defenseless against them.

Those utterly bizarre teacher's union demands in SoCal were just a taste.

I think golfers get paid in the state they get their tournament income. So they have to file in that state. So Phil was kind of correct in making fun of him.

I don’t know how endorsement money works though which for some golfers might be more than from golfing and can probably be negotiated to be paid in the state of residence. Especially 6-9 figure deals.

Phil probably saw the light, or maybe the guy who prepared his 1040 told him what’s up.

Bill Gates, Tom Cruise, other megabucks types have places in Florida and I bet they are residents.

The owner of the New England Patriots has a place down there, as does the coach. A few other NFL coaches live down there.

Trump changed his residency to Florida recently.

Except for the heat and rain, it’s generally a happy place; everyone has extra money, they can all afford a place, and the chicks aren’t fat fireplugs or nasty like in California.
