503 Backend is bad.

I tried yesterday from 4:10am to 8am, no luck. Now it should be visible just after sun set for the next 3 days. I still remember wayback seeing the comet Halley, it was spactulr display in the sky.

They are beautiful until their methane filled tails cause mass incinerations, or their heads crash into earth and destroy 90 percent of all life.

Ahhh, Ceffer, I always look forward to your uplifting nuggets of joy! It's good to know we barely escaped the fate of the dinosaurs - this time.

The comet will be tough to see near big cities - drive 50 miles out, let your eyes adjust, and you can see Neowise about 9:30 pm local. Binocs make it much easier to find first, then eyeball it.

Plenty of sites tell you where to look. Enjoy!

Well, I was blessed to see it. My area is pretty light polluted, and lurking about the neighborhood with binoculars after dark isn't exactly the way to score points with the neighbors if they see you.

It required the binoculars. It was like a dim star, and the tail was pointed to the right, just like the pictures of comets. It wasn't that easy to find, but I did eventually. Very cool to see. I went out twice, once when light then once when a bit darker so I could see the contrast of the comet against the sky better.

So, I have now seen two comets in my lifetime. The last one was I believe the remnants of Hale-Bopp comet, which looked like a smudge in the sky seen on two separate nights. That one could be seen barely with naked eye. So, I have seen two UFOs and two comets, and numerous fireballs at various times. Since comets are supposedly harbingers of pestilence and calamity, I suppose Neowise is right on time for 2020.

Was it left or right side to the sun. I couldn't see because of the light, mountains...

Where I am, it was a bit to right of the sunset area, and the tail was generally pointed toward the right.

Last night, they said to extend your fist and measure three fists down from the pail of the big dipper, then go right. That turned out to be pretty close. It was not easy to find and required some scanning. Also, it was low, so I had to find an area where there were no trees or houses in the way.

Pictures show comets so bright and contrasty, but this did not look like that. The comet probably looks great away from the urban areas in clear skies.

Pics could also be time exposures - my buddy has the new phone with a "night vision" camera that can work with starlight. Hold it still, and it just works. amazing.

Watched it again last night. Tail was kicked up to the right 45 degrees or so, more than the night before, and the location was further to the west from the night before. I wonder if I will be able to see it tonite again, or if my neighbors will think I am a peeping tom and have me arrested.
