"Possession of fireworks such as sky rockets, bottle rockets, roman candles, aerial shells, firecrackers, and other types that explode, go into the air, or move on the ground in an uncontrollable manner can lead to a possible fine or jail time in the county jail," the San Francisco Fire Department said in a statement. "Even 'safe and sane' fireworks, such as firecrackers and sparklers, are illegal."
The Oakland Police Department is asking the community to report fireworks use and has set up fireworks collection barrels at several fire stations (see the list of stations here). "Those caught with illegal fireworks can be cited and/or fined up to $10,000, plus imprisonment," the department shared.
