I don't need to. Been working remotely and that's pretty good actually. Certainly saves on commute time.

I loved that Columbus statue. It's like San Francisco chopped off its own penis. Things have gone way too far, and almost no one in our government is standing up for decency in the face of the mob, who are in actual fact a small minority of very defective people.

Rachell Axel is a horrible person. There millions of clones of her out there. One comfort is that they will literally never be happy.

The city should have at least voted on the statue. But we don't have democracy anymore. We have mob rule by violent leftists who riot and loot and burn with impunity (and apparently immunity to Wuhan virus) while the police are told to do nothing.

One way San Francisco could return to sanity:

1. Put Columbus back.
2. Evict the haters from City Hall. They are all leftists.
3. Deport all illegals, pronto. They are breaking the law at the expense of poor US citizens.
4. Put the mentally ill homeless in mental hospitals.
5. Make the penalty for vagrancy (or shitting on the street or injecting drugs) be jail time in the remotest areas of California. Do not give them any transit back.
6. Make the penalty for repeated vagrancy double the jail time of the last offense, with the option to join the military instead.
7. Reform the elementary, middle, and high school curriculum to require the Greek and Roman classics.
8. Fire seditious teachers.

None of that list will occur. Reparations and affirmative action are next.

All my life, I was told that SF was Boston's sister city but upon visiting and spending time there, it looked more like Philadelphia by the bay.

The place has no history, no sense of community, and is filled with bums, gangs, and the dregs of society.

The DA of San Fran is literally the son of leftist terrorists who shot people while robbing a Brinks Truck at a Mall, and personally raised by Ayers and Dohrn.

As part Italian this only confirms my exit plan. Due to family it's not going to be a swift exit, but it's on the horizon. It was once a great city, I had my best decade here but since 2010/2011 or so for over 10 years the decline has been enormous. The last time this was a very enjoyable city was during the 2008 recession after everyone and the bums left for a few years. The leftoids will destroy this state and possibly the country if Trump doesn't get reelected and the Dems don't find their way back to a heartland type of moderate common sense.

Pat, everyone knows about the views of SF. This isn't some recent discovery like the fact that the turmeric spice limits inflammation.

All of our lives, it was preached that if you take the best of Boston's cultural heritage and place it in a temperate climate by the Pacific, you get SF. Unfortunately, many Boston transplants to the Bay Area have discovered it to be false and want to move back home after their SF or Silicon Valley gig is over. Weather & vistas can't make up for a region w/o culture and heritage.

If anything, the greater Silicon Valley is almost like South Jersey with its endless office parks and strip malls, but with only Philly and Atlantic City at its perimeters. Use that, cut out the summer humidity and add a year long temperate climate, and you get the Bay Area.

I never heard anybody compare SF to Boston, it's really apples and oranges. SF does get credit for more than it is because of the beauty of the physical environment.

In spite of being around the Bay Area for a good part of my life, I never liked SF that much, even though I got laid there a few times (by females, for the snarks).

The drug culture has always created a cloud thicker than the fog, the tourist traps are pretty trivial and can be seen in a day etc. If you are into restaurant culture, I suppose it's great if you have the budget. The ultra rich really spend their time there swanning for the other ultra rich, as usual. It's always had screaming aggressive bums and danger. There is some culture there, but I wouldn't call it a cornucopia compared to other large cities, or even LA. In spite of LA's well deserved reputation for shallowness, I think it has SF beat on the culture and entertainment score by a long shot.

I always found SF kind of a depressing place in general, with big city crap but not enough big city goodies.

It's basically an attempt to to hold white people thought history to a higher standard than other races. The Native Americans in North, Central and South America exhibited behavior that would be considered repulsively barbaric by today's standards, contemporaneous with the arrival of white explorers and colonists to the New World, whose behaviors are resulting in their banishment from historical memory. Black Africans were no less barbaric by today's standards.

Likewise, Black Lives Matter is not that black lives matter, just that white people are held to this same higher standard today. Else, BLM would be all over the killings of blacks in Chicago and Baltimore, which BLM is not.

And so this is a type of racism, where, once again, white people project their demon racist thoughts outward, and black people deny their behavior and shortcomings, and find a convenient out, the mighty white oppressors.
