So...we shut down the whole universe and trashed economy because of something that half of population is already immune against. Basically, government engaged in doom porn.
This also explains why on Diamond Princess cruise ship a yuuge part of passengers (mostly old farts) did not get sick at all despite being in risk group and being in close proximity for weeks, and why a few friends of mine who were sick with corona did not infect nearly anyone.
