Will a mask stop or slow down the spread of the coronavirus? Dr. Anthony Fauci, a left-leaning Clinton supporter, said masks were pointless; don’t worry, you don’t need a mask, he said back in March.

It's May 14, 2020, and the lock-down continues. On May 12, Dr. Fauci said with no push back from the media, "masks should be a regular part of our daily lives." He felt reassured to see so many people wearing a mask.

This was the same man who encouraged people to use their dating app. and have sex, during the worst pandemic, they tell us, in over a hundred years.

Mask no longer required:

How about if I wore a welding mask?

I’m going to wear a mask when I am in a store around strangers.

What type of mask, though? I haven't really heard good terminology for this. Will you wear a "defensive mask"? That is, one that protects you from the virus. Depending on whether or not it has a purge valve, it may or may not protect others (and would not qualify as a "face covering" required by Bay Area County Health Departments). An "offensive mask" (ie - cloth face covering) helps prevent the virus from spreading, but doesn't necessarily protect you.

They aren't protection against any respiratory virus, but they work to minimize the pointless wrath of the Karens and hall monitors. They are also a symbol of conformity and obedience, so the police don't ventilate you on minimal provocation.

CDC's website states the COVID-19, which is a mutated version or "novel version" of the coronavirus, is spread via "respiratory droplet".

That means anything like a cloth mask, a clear plastic face shield, etc. would block the droplet.

EBguy my mask is probably effective enough for my needs, but I’m not sure it is a “95” mask.

I know it’s not so porous because I don’t get much air flow; if I try to move too fast I won’t be able to for long.

Since viruses don’t have wings, I expect them to be attached to some mist or spray from some infected fucker coughing or sneezing on me which I will not allow. The mask should be adequate for the virus mist.

The proof is Austria, Czech Republic and Slovakia all wore masks from the beginning and they seem to have been effective.

Old, fat slob, cancer, diabetes, etc. people are the ones who should be extremely careful.

Masks definitely do help - although the virus is of course smaller than the holes in regular cloth masks, even N95 masks, the amount of initial viral exposure/load usually matters and helps people not to get sick before developing an immune response and antibodies. It helps more for sick people to wear them though to prevent their spread than for a healthy person to wear it. Outside you really never need it, but inside it's not a bad idea for now.

True if you are ugly. I suspect we may have a few "double maskers" around, to boot.

They really hate that Trump doesn't wear masks, because it reveals the bullshit of mandatory mask wearing to everyday Americans.
24   clambo   2020 May 21, 4:35pm

Do people realize that the reason they told us to “shelter in place” was for a lack of supply of masks?

Otherwise, we could have gone about our business without ruining our economy and being abused by overlords who have no health or disease or medical training.

Right, it's utter leftoid bullshit TDS. Trump is constantly being tested, as long as he tests negative there is no reason for him to wear a mask.
26   Tenpoundbass   2020 May 21, 5:33pm

The only benefit other people get from me wearing a mask. Is they can't read my lips as I mutter my discontent about all of these fucking knobs wearing a mask.

This is perhaps their main function.

Do you DO AS YOU'RE TOLD or not?
28   WillPowers   2020 May 23, 9:10pm

Most conservatives are skeptical of the protocols, while most liberals it seems from my limited vantage point, believe without question, the authorities, and they do what they are told, like good sheeple. But I could be wrong. That's just my perception.
31   clambo   2020 May 28, 2:54pm

It’s not a fair analogy but you can get a fine for not wearing a seatbelt.

You only affect yourself if you don’t so it’s like the mask in my view.

I’m wearing both for my own selfish reasons, just like my dentist.

Seatbelts took decades to gain acceptance and people still don't follow the law with wearing them. And there's also the fact that the danger is evident and known. Physical trauma is substantially different than a virus. Many may have already had this virus or will never get it. And even if you get it there's a super high survival rate if you even show symptoms and know about it.

Like seatbelt laws, driving laws, smoking laws, drinking laws, etc. we know who this kills. Protect them, but maybe it's time to protect them from themselves. Card them before entering a store, etc. Ticket them for not social distancing, etc. Almost 99.99% of the 60 and under population would die of something else before COVID-19. The data has proven this. I don't understand why it's not acceptable to stop older people, 60+ from doing things, but a-ok to stop younger people with laws? It makes no sense.

If we're not willing to pass laws to prevent these people from going to Golden Corral during a pandemic, then fuck them. The hospitals weren't overwhelmed at all. Let them fucking die. I'm seriously still at a loss with the response across the board. There's more to this, or a pandemic is being used as a weapon. For what cause I don't know.

It's definitely being used as a weapon, though I'm not quite sure what they hope it will accomplish. Trump is very likely to be reelected in a landslide.

The idea is that if you cough or sneeze, the mask prevents the spread of germs. But I would like to posit that if you are sick, you prevent the spread by staying home and getting better. Crazy, I know.

And if you aren't sick, wearing a mask exposes you to CO2 sickness, likely isn't expensive enough to block virus particles, and creates a warm, moist germ motel right next to your mouth and nose.

To summarize ignorant health practices throughout history: bleeding, leaches, masks.

Great comment Nutt. The handful of times I've worn a mask during this BS, I chewed gum. Even with good dental hygiene (not one cavity in almost 40 years), even my own breath inside the mask is unbearable. Masks are fucking disgusting. You also know that people are reusing them over and over or not washing them.

I actually am now wondering if you're asymptomatic, and sneeze with a mask on (due to allergies or just needing to sneeze), that you're not throwing out a huge viral load that's accumulated in your mask. Potentially making it more harmful for those around you. Fuck masks are gross.

Side note: Anyone think the plural of mask sounds fucked up? Masks? Seems like it should be a deer type word where it stays the same regardless of there being one or many.

Not to mention if you’re wearing an N95 style mask with the “cool” exhale valve that direct exhausts bypassing any filtration media of the mask. I can’t wait to call bullshit on the fucksticks that wear those and tell me I am not protecting other people by choosing not to wear a fear mask.

Same reason we strip search all commoner airline passengers instead of using the Israeli method - our society seems to think "profiling" is a great crime and thus should never be used.

It's being used to further along the electronic medical records. So that gov will know every health detail about everyone.

It's being used as an excuse to shut down the economy. Notice the states with Democratic governors: Virginia, California, have the worse lock down protocols, while states with Republican governors are opening up and getting the economy rolling again. This is the Dems trying to ruin the economy in their own backyards, hoping to ruin the Great Trump economy, to help ruin his chances in November. With the mainstream left leaning press on their side they can shape the narrative accordingly.
