Hmmm.

The original Star Wars is pretty good, though the latest are irredeemably infected with liberalation, as another poster recently termed it.

Actually, most movies were pretty good until maybe the 1960's.

Now it's rare to find any mainstream movie that is not infected with the leftist agenda.

Mostly unpozzed until the 90s, I think.

I mean Delta Force, Predator, Casino, etc. are all pretty good.

A somewhat high percentage of movies have always been mediocre (at best) . And there have always been whatever, maybe 10% or so that are great or pretty good.

I'm somewhat oblivious to the the underlying girl power or positive diversity or whatever the "propaganda" it is that you see that bothers you so much.

Although I will grant you, that there has been way more good series on Netflix, Amazon Prime and elsewhere, in recent years and correspondingly a little great less movies than in the past.

If you put movies and online content together, I'm not convinced that the overall quantity of good content has gone down.

Maybe being an older adult now means that one has seen a lot of great movies, including ones that were breakthroughs when they happened, raising your expectations for what it takes for a movie to be in your view really great.

Once you see it, it's impossible to unsee it and just enjoy the movie.

No one wants to be manipulated.

Quite a few of the tv series for cable have been amazing.

Yellowstone on Paramount network has been really fantastic. Everyone is corrupt as hell including the Native Americans. You wind up rooting for Kevin Costner’s character as an anti hero. He’s corrupted but still does everything in his power to protect his family and the ones he cares for.

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are phenomenal...perhaps the best screen viewings ive ever seen.

Longmire as well. There’s no political correctness at all except when people try to help the local Indian tribe, which always ends with the Indians hating them. By far the most moral and strongest of conviction character I can remember in a tv series.

I’m watching The Last Ship right now. Only in season two but really liking it. The captain is a strong male role model, and there’s no ifs ands or buts about who is in charge.

What do all of these shows have in common? Really strong males in traditional male roles. You may think Breaking Bad isn’t that, but watch the development of Walter White and his brother in law. Walts the beta, yet knows he’s smart, has an attractive wife, has raised a kid, and gets along well with Hank, the alpha, without ever wanting to be like Hank. And becomes the alpha using his brains anyway.

All the shows feature at least a major character, if not the lead, who has a very strong moral conviction and whom attempt to influence and make their mark on the world, even if it’s just their little speck of the world.

DEATH! WISH! - the original, of coure.

DEATH! HUNT!

Too much talking but no agenda but fucking kill the fucking guilty and fuck the exit wounds.

Charles Bronson is unmatchable - the remake wasn't horrible but nowhere near Bronson style.

Assault on Precinct 13 (Original) - best soundtrack.

Example of Pozzed broadcasting:

"Netflix's new show features a 300lb Black Lesbian, a Hispanic Lesbian, and an M2F Trans Character. There's also a White Heterosexual Woman whose husband is a member of the KKK and beats her. She's the only one with children and wears a crucifix.

It's about 4 waitresses in a diner in a small West Virginia town called 'Down Home Diner in America'"

The new Dune movie is probably going to be a train wreck, already one male character has been replaced with a woman

Oh no. Which one?

.

Yeah, I believe that about World War Z.

You should watch the movie The Martian starring Matt Damon.

Its a circle jerk as far as being pro-ChiCom.
12   steverbeaver   2020 May 10, 9:47pm

Hurt Locker, True Grit, Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men, Hamburger Hill, Elling... they're out there. I also liked In the Heart of the Sea. Newer movies? I don't watch that many so my list is short. There are others too, just can't remember.
13   steverbeaver   2020 May 10, 9:48pm

Snatch! Don't forget that one.
14   Ceffer   2020 May 10, 10:27pm

'American Horror Story' manages to be entertaining because it is such a directionless riff on everything, even the politically correct. Tons of the usual inclusionary Xits, but so crazy its hard to take it all as propaganda.

The British detective shows that have had long runs over a couple of decades show most of their shoehorning in the last six years or so, but they seems to get more obnoxious as they advance every year and I am convinced the writers are self parodying some of it (probably because they were forced to shoehorn the crap by the BBC commissars).

Thanks, going to look for all of these suggestions.

Doctor Keynes replaced by black woman, supposedly his daughter. Guess they had to make diversity quota.
Not good if they are already making changes to story just to make people fit.
17   Ceffer   2020 May 11, 6:53am

The Amazon program Bosch has the standard diversity quotas. However, downtown LA and its politics IS a diversity train wreck, so it doesn't quite resonate in the usual phony ways as much.

I don’t mind a little girl power as long as it’s not paired with male weakness/stupidity. And I’m over the gay stuff. I love “Yellowstone” and the gay stuff in that one was ok because mostly the gay son is portrayed as the weak character who needs to cowboy up!

Not only leftist, but also Chinese dominated: I loved "The Martian", except for the insertion of the Chinese Space Program assisting in the rescue mission. Hollywood is beholden to their Chinese investment masters - more than half of action movie revenues are non-USA. Therefore, these movies will portray the Chinese in a warm, respectful manner. Forget what their current government is doing, we Chinese are lovable!!

I should have less trouble separating entertainment from Government and Politics, but the latter two entities make it difficult, as they insert themselves into every aspect of human endeavor. It sickens me.

Yes, its pure propaganda promoting the Chinese Communists (ChiComs). It rivals what the Soviets and Nazis did as far as propaganda films.
21   Ceffer   2020 May 11, 10:53am

I really didn't like it when Matt Damon got a big space boner at the mention of the Chinese.

They did worse for the remake of Red Dawn. They originally filmed it with China invading, as per the script. But the studio put its foot down and they had to spend several million dollars digitally replacing the signs with Korean and uniforms with North Korea and dubbing over the spoken Chinese with Korean.

The end result: This totally suspension of disbelief caused by the bogus invasion of the US by North Korea.

The original Red Dawn pissed off the Liberal nomenklatura in NY. So did the network airing of Amerika. But no commercial interests were threatened, so the libs couldn't do anything about it.

I LOVED the original Red Dawn. I must have watched it 25 or more times as a teen(Marcus is saying to himself “this explains soooo much”).

The new one was a heaping pile of crap. They never should have bothered with a remake. Can’t remake a classic.
23   MisdemeanorRebel   2020 May 11, 1:14pm

Never even saw the New One, who could believe North Korea could possibly occupy the USA?

WOLVERINES!!! Red Dawn one of my favorites of all time as a kid.

Last Starfighter - another gem, thanks for reminding me. We need some Kids Movies for Fridays.

Wait until all the Social Distancing Warriors are in Death Blossom Range.

Because we have all been selected by the Space Force to stand up to Xir and his Social Justice Armada.
25   Karloff   2020 May 11, 9:14pm

So how long has China owned Hollywood, the Western education system, the media, and so many key positions in government?

Sure was cheaper than waging a traditional war, wasn't it? Taken right out of the KGB playbook, as described by Yuri Bezmenov.

The old saying of "to know who you are owned by, see who you not allowed to criticize" rings true.
