"We are going to win against the recalcitrant and unenlightened population, by force if necessary! Thank you, Covid-19, for providing the perfect panic premise!"

If you can 'win' against a barely animate particle, then you can certainly send it a thank you card.

So basically like 10 Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.

Since I don’t know what that means without looking it up, I’m gonna assume it’s a smart ass meaningless comment with zero content.

Yes, that is a ridiculous comparison. Like when you point out to a dealer that a car is slow, the dealers says "True, but compare that to hopping." An honest comparison would be to compare COVID-19 deaths to flu deaths.

That brilliant Ghetto Scholar Stacey Abrams compared it to Vietnam.

A young boy dies from cancer. That’s tragic and horrible. Everyone knows this instinctively.

An old man dies of pneumonia. That’s sad, and makes us think of our own eventual mortality. It’s not tragic though, as his life was basically over and he got to live it.

This disease is killing the old and sparing the young. Yes, with a few exceptions. But this distinction makes it merely sad and not tragic or a tragedy.

See the difference?

About 175,000 died in the two bombings combined.

10x that would 1.75 million.

The new official estimate is 70,000 dead from this mutant cold, still less than the flu deaths of 2018, with no good evidence that the economically devastating lockdown is any more effective than Sweden's moderate rules.

And perhaps the majority of those would not have made it to the end of this year anyway, so to count their deaths as equivalent to the deaths of young or healthy people is completely wrong.

Good luck Patrick. I've been trying. Comparing a bombing to a natural virus is just not logical anyway.

Closed the tab, and it may include deaths from the fallout, but I thought it came to 250k for both bombings? It was from wiki, so who knows if it can be trusted anyway. But that would be 2.5M deaths. And I was presuming the OP was talking about the US. 1.75 or 2.5M in the US was never on the table with this virus. It's pure lunacy and bull shit.

They found dead body in Santa Cruz so there have been 3 murders while 2 older guys died from the Wuhan virus.

So you are more likely to be murdered than die of Wuhan in Santa Cruz.

I talk to my friends about this stuff, and the worried ones are older female widows in Florida, but lots of things scare them these days.

Its interesting that the same posters that were hair on fire hysterical about a 5000 ragtag mexibeaner caravan assaulting the border, raping our women, pillaging the Walmart and stealing the meatpacking and fruit picking jobs from good deserving Americans, and who were all aboard El Presidente dumbass sending the troops to the border, to dig ditches and fill them back in, funny, now they all seem nonchalant about this virus. Virus simirus, what eves. And the odd thing is the mexibeaners disappeared like a miracle right after the 2018 election. Poof like magic. But this virus union apparently didn't get script from his majesty about disappearing in April. Sad

Just 5,000 you say?

Ultimately we will get a vaccine or some sort of treatment for Wuhan AIDS and it will not be a huge issue in our daily lives.

Illegals and their drain on our societies will last generations. Just look how fucked up California is now thanks to the massive demographic change.

"Over the weekend, beaches throughout California were inundated with tourists. The first warm weekend weather after six weeks of sheltering in place drew large crowds to our local beaches as well. The impact to our residents and local coastal neighborhoods is unacceptable. The Board of Supervisors will be meeting with our County leadership team to develop new strategies to protect the health of our local residents this Tuesday. Our goal is to come up with an effective and enforceable strategy. This may include closure of the beaches in part, or completely. There will be changes to address this problem when the new Shelter In Place Order comes out this later week. I will circulate this new order as soon as it is public."
This, in a place that has no Covid in any meaningful way, nor have beach crowds changed a thing. Taking credit for lockdown measures that are meaningless.

Oh, the grim folly.

Funny. You seem nonchalant about the lack of data to support a lockdown AND the guaranteed death toll from the resulting economic carnage such as the "Biblical Famine", suicides, loss of livelihood of millions, and the tyrannical response of our governments.

Anyone still in favor of continued lockdown is a brainwashed useful idiot. End of story

I will need that money to pay for private school.

Well, let's start with mass civil disobedience.

If they shoot at us, then we have to shoot back.

In any case, the Constitution needs to be defended.

But, when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

the economically devastating lockdown

Like a nuclear bomb the whole country has been devastated. Countless small business owners have been pushed out of the self sufficient middle class into some corporate subservience or waiting on the dole.

Not to mention they used the Wuhan as an excuse to try to pass off unknown millions of fraudulent ballots and steal the presidency.

I hope these lily livers, who swan at the notion of an insignificant .26% non-institutionalized fatality rate (the majority of whom have some co-morbidities or at least vitamin deficiencies) never have to confront an honest-to-God terrifying virus like Small Pox with an average fatality rate of 30% of who ever gets it.

There's hardly any Covid in SF, never really was. At the height maybe 200-300 positive tests per day, now down to 20-30. I suspect it partially has to do with the insane amount of shit and feces on the sidewalks and streets that early on exposed people in small quantities and forever with similar viruses generating cross immunity. I'm not joking. A daily jog in the streets of SF and a daily whiff of shit primes your immune system. Doesn't mean it's pleasant or should be endorsed ;) It was in the red tier for a while but SF took in a lot of patients from surrounding counties which counted towards its covid count. Even with the stupid bs edicts from newsom and breed its going to fully reopen soon, probably too late though, economic recovery will take many years and only if they can get the shit, crime and hobos under control.
