I’m hearing this sentiment come up more and more. People are angry and they are directing that anger at China, the source of this pandemic. Even if you don’t believe (as Intelligence agencies are beginning to state) that this virus escaped from the Wuhan lab, then it was just the product or horribly dirty and barbaric exploitation of wild animals. Take your pick.
And what I’m hearing is that Chinese goods will no longer be on the menu for many people. If this is a war, then China has fired the first missile salvo and hurt us badly. A boycott of Chinese goods seems like the only way that most people have found to fight back.
Who’s angry?

We are at the sorry point where many goods have no non-Chinese-made alternatives at all.

exactly - go to any Big Box store and try to find something made in US of A or Europe, or even Mexico. At best "assembled in America with parts from mostly China"

For now, yes, but long term people could move away from buying made in China.

It's a fucking slave state and it's products should be banned and its banks should be taken off of SWIFT.

Unions

Elections

Gun rights or no trade and no resolution of payments

Taiwan and Hong Kong should be granted statehood immediately and the seventh fleet should take up strategic points around the islands with 24/7 broadcasts in Mandarin and Cantonese of the duty of revolution for oppressed peoples.

More of the often ignored wisdom from AF.

I have been boycotting Chinese products for more than a decade now. Although similar products are made in Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, etc... there’s no guarantee these companies are not owned by the Chinese.

I’d rather pay more for products made in USA, but not everyone can afford to or think the same way. I love this country and willing to pay the premium for products made right here at home.

@APOCALYPSEFUCKisShostakovitch with you on this 110%

But it has to happen from the top, the US has to ban trade with China, because there are essentially no US-made products left.

Banning trade with China directly threatens the US oligarchs like Bezos who own us, and we can't afford to buy back our whorish Congressmen.

What alternatives are left when Democracy is almost completely subverted by money? Just about the only thing that has happened without oligarch permission in our lifetimes is the election of Donald Trump, and their hissy fit is still ongoing.

Even Apple is starting to move out. I feel better now about my next iPhone buy.

Banning slave states is our only hope. I read the Wealth of Nations - and I could not find the chapter about all the manufacturing in the world is shipped off to a slave state without elections or unions or freedom to defend.

MacArthur's occupation established unions and elections after armistice. He renounced occupation administration and pressed for elections like six months after armistice. He also supported an independent press in Japan - that filthy libby - which only functions in Hong Kong.

The fucking states needs to start by granting HK and Taiwan accession to statehood with the freedoms America's constitution guarantees and demanding the PRC be taken off of SWIFT. The fucking slave owners can trade in rocks and sea shells.

Sharing. Thanks AF.

Amid Pandemic, Hong Kong Arrests Major Pro-Democracy Figures
Rarely have so many prominent pro-democracy figures — over a dozen — been arrested at once. The arrests signaled a broader crackdown on the anti government movement that roiled the semiautonomous city last year.

Home Depot, most construction material is made in USA

most construction material is made in USA

Also plumbing parts, shoes, furniture, and clothing. Does cost a little more, but the quality upgrade is obvious. Also big ticket items like cars, boats, and garage doors. Cars and garage doors can not only be US made, but Union made as well.

And most mattresses are made here. Too hard to ship stuff like that, especially when you can make them here for about $150 out the door all overhead included, and sell them for $600-1200.

Rin won't buy Chinese goods any more, but he will still buy Chinese bads:
