California’s Democrat governor is providing a $500 per person bailout to 150,000 poor illegal migrants throughout the state, according to the Associated Press.

The giveaway will cost the state’s taxpayers $125 million, said the AP report.

California’s citizens feel gratitude toward the illegals, Newsome said:

“We feel a deep sense of gratitude for people that are in fear of deportations that are still addressing essential needs of tens of millions of Californians,” said Newsom, who noted 10% of the state’s workforce are immigrants living in the country illegally who paid more than $2.5 billion in state and local taxes last year.

"Californians?" I think he means "employers who want to skirt labor laws." Is "scab" even a work in California anymore? How can the Dems say with a straight face they support a living wage?

They support it for illegals.

So you if you were hiring a gardener, landscaper, nanny, cleaning person, painter, or seasonal people to help you pick crops on a small farm, or someone to help you move, you would insist on seeing their proof of citizenship ?

I find it amusing that most people that complain about this, as if it's the fault of the liberals somehow, aren't out there asking the guy that cuts their grass to prove that all his workers are legal.

Same thing if he hires a paining crew, or roofers, or plumbers for that matter.

Total hypocrites.

Why wouldn't you use licensed services and agencies? And what does that have to do with political party? If you troll the Home Depot lot looking for laborers, you are scum regardless of who you vote for. And if you hired the nanny, did you do the 1099 or W-2? What SS did you use? Even so, deflecting the conversation to people doing individual hires does not excuse the firms that hire illegals to send out on landscaping contracts, etc. There is no reason such firms cannot check citizenship, and no reason individuals cannot refuse business with firms that hire illegals. Illegals are hired, even by the well to do, for the express purpose on paying substandard wages and cheating on tax requirements.

A corollary to this is that mass-amnesty and citizenship for illegals will result in those "citizens" being hired for substandard wages and cheating on tax requirements just as before or a new crop of illegals for the same purposes.

It’s pretty easy to tell who is illegal.

Projection. If you hire illegals it doesn't mean everybody does.

There’s so many assumptions and projections in this statement that it’s ridiculous.

Stop doing that.

I don't think so. The dynamic is more complex here.

It's like taxes. I guarantee you, that if you stopped prosecuting ppl who don't pay income taxes, that suddenly there would be an explosion of these tax evaders. Tons of people would know that doing it will hurt society, but they don't care. They don't want to be one of the few suckers to actually pay taxes, while everyone else cheats and gets the relative advantage. So, few will pay taxes. But, many people WOULD vote for the govt to enforce prosecuting tax evaders, because they see the big picture benefit of having a society that can afford police/fire/municipal services via their tax money, even if they may continue to cheat until that day arrives.

That's whats going on here. People know illegal labor is bad, but everyone has their hand in the cookie jar, and so they will do it too. But, they know society will benefit if we all stop cheating. When pretty much everyone is cheating, being the one honest person doesn't make any real difference, except for hurting yourself.

It's a giant middle finger to all citizen and legal immigrant taxpayers.

You can call the Soc Sec office's 1-800 number and verify in less than 3 minutes. It's free and takes no time. I used to do that for as a temp in college.

The day laborers are still lining San Pablo Avenue in front of the home depot in Richmond. I assume, without evidence, that most are not citizens.

Where are the police to enforce social distancing?

Good analysis.
But a clear conscience has value.

Only to 150,000 of them?

What about the other ten million?

He said "poor". The rest, apparently, are not poor.
