This is just the tip of the iceberg. Joliet is about an hour from where I'm at. I think everyone is afraid to sound the alarm, but given we're a sales tax state, government is fucked. Regardless of whether your job with government is from property tax or sales tax, expect to be laid off if we don't open back up.

The current situation is not sustainable much longer. They talk about September/October in my link. Fuck that. They'll be lucky to have enough cash to cover expenses by the end of May. I'm the fucking treasurer on a board. The money isn't fucking there. If local governments start faltering and aren't able to pay cops/firefighters... enjoy the politicization of this... you'll end up dead from the rioting and looting.

I feel like we're turning a corner towards the positive, but media and idiots need to stop dicking around with this. STOP politicizing this and let's please move on. There's no winner in the current game being played.

This is going to hit the Clerisy where they fucking LIVE!
Clearly, in their rush to shutdown the economy, and put massive numbers of unimportant people out of work, they forgot where their own pay checks originate! This is going to be epic social justice when the fucking asshat GloboHomo retard “elites” lose bigly because of the shit they fucking promoted.

Unions will burn the city down if they have to to get their pension spikes.

This is what will end the 'demic. Not compassion. Deficits making the tides go out on the politicians.

Illinois to sell $850 million of bonds as investors brace for junk status

It would be nice if they cut the pensions and wages for goldbricks.

I believe first they're going to try to cut the freebies to people.

Either is fine with me, but it's likely they will seek to raise taxes too.

IL already is. I’m voting no, but they’re trying real hard to get progressive taxes. Yet they’ll never recall the pension amendment that is bankrupting the state. Servicing unrealistic pensions and still dishing them out to new hires is pure retardation.

We’ll always have a house here most likely, but we’ll get out eventually.

Good. Screw the fat gov leeches, especially the "management".

Is there any doubt in your mind?

Because of the paywall, I cannot paste excerpts from the website. So I will type a few, read from the print edition.

Wall Street Journal, October 21. Page A2.

Headline, "New York State Projects $59 Billion Budget Hole".

..."...projecting $59 billion of revenue shortfalls through 2022...'...

..."...Cuomo said services will be cut and taxes will increase if Congress doesn't pass another relief package - which Democrats say should include direct aid to states and cities..."...

..."...Moody's downgraded general obligation debt of New York City and the state on Oct. 1 ..."...

Post the link, I might be able to break through the paywall.

A lot of these morons just cover up the webpage but send you the full page. If that's the case, I can retrieve it all. Some of the morons have smartened up and figured out they shouldn't do that. NY Times hasn't.

Another trick is searching for some text of the article. For example, this is what I got when I searched for "Cuomo said services will be cut and taxes will increase if Congress doesn't pass another relief package - which Democrats say should include direct aid to states and cities." on duckduckgo (this is the URL):

https://duckduckgo.com/?t=canonical&q=Cuomo+said+services+will+be+cut+and+taxes+will+increase+if+Congress+doesn%27t+pass+another+relief+package+-+which+Democrats+say+should+include+direct+aid+to+states+and+cities.&ia=web

The first entry is here:

https://www.usnews.com/news/national-news/articles/2019-07-08/cuomo-signs-bill-allowing-new-york-to-release-trumps-state-tax-returns

You see, most "reporters" just copy and paste articles. Either they are just plagiarizing or they are paying for the right to copy the articles. They may modify the story slightly, but often attribute the entire article to themselves.

Fun fact: 6 words in the English language are said once, and never again. You can search for 6 words strung together, and you will find either a quote or a unique individual 99.99% of the time. Try it - next time you read something from the "mainstream "news"" - copy 6 words from the article, and dump it into a search engine. Either you will find that one article, or, you'll find that 30 journalists are getting the same "news" to pretend to have written.

You see, we really do live in a nation of propaganda. We have as much propaganda as any other country did, including N. Korea, the USSR, and the 3rd Reich.

My great uncle Joe was captain of the guard at Joliet Prison. That was probably 100 years ago, so it wasn't his pension that did Joliet in.

They will lay off cops, firefighters, close the pool and the beaches before they cut or lay off teachers, social justice workers, etc.
16   WookieMan   2020 Oct 22, 3:29am

It won’t, but I’m hoping it results in reform. Use based taxes are an awful way to fund government and hurt the poor the most. Like sales taxes.

Something like covid comes around and you lose a substantial amount of revenue that simply can never be made up. No one is going out to eat 3 times a day for 2-3 weeks to make up for it. The Cubs can’t get the 90 games back or whatever it was. Cities budgeted roughly to have that cash. Now they’re too afraid of lay-offs and are crying poor to the federal government. Hopefully they learn, likely won’t.

The Fed can suck up junk muni bonds, thereby enabling something states cannot do - money out of thin air. But one might argue that the Fed would be encouraging malinvestment, which it does routinely, anyway, for banks and other businesses. But we are reinforcing the private banking cartel's control over the spice, replacing money earned through legitimate enterprise, with money doled out from the cartel.

I dunno, man. Collecting a pension for 100 years draws a lot from a town's finances.

Sure there is. When the government implodes it will become quite obvious just how useful the government is.

The only services the government needs to do is investigate crimes - they don't prevent them. They arrest people AFTER the crime. Skools are just indoctrination centers and waste children's time when they could be learning. Need to have roads of course, but it would be nice if they didn't build them purposely to fall apart in 5-10 years. The rest is largely red tape.
