We really, really, need to eliminate the cost plus system, and go back to flying prototypes or fuck off. Both monstrosities need to be broken up into 4 companies each (Lockheed-Martin being the other). They can always require production orders to sub contract to be sure the bid loser doesn't go bankrupt and stays around to compete again.

And for Heaven's Sake, we need an affordable, reliable, multi-sortie per day rugged, agile fighter that doesn't cost $100M+ a pop nor needs $100k/year contractors to maintain, which isn't going to be possible a Taiwanese Airbase that is being hit hourly by Ballistic Missiles. Jerry Sanduski's wife and 2 kids will prohibit his 45-year old ass from going. But Airman Albert can't refuse at a fourth of the salary.

If you are going to give anyone money, it should only be the newly unemployed.
