China had no recourse on Trump's Patriotic Trade policy. China was willing to destroy the global economy, it's not a problem for them. Covid-19 is most assuredly laboratory generated. It has too many segments that are mapped to databases of known viral genomes. Bats and animals could not in any remotely probable universe spontaneously evolve and assemble these particular known genomes, which are like signatures, or lego blocks with serial numbers. There are databases of known genome segments that correspond exactly to those on Covid-19.
The crown spikes that adhere the virus to cells contain segments from HIV, to attach to the same cells that HIV attacks. These were lab spliced genomes, because the likelihood of bats creating these same segments is infinitesimally small.
One question remaining is the spy v. spy scenario. One observer perusing available scientific literature cites that the Wuhan lab obtained its lego blocks from a lab in University of North Carolina, ostensibly sold to be used for academic research purposes. UNC is close to US Bioweapons lab. There is also the Canadian connection, where research spies transferred viral genomes from Canadian bioweapons facility.
Viruses self assemble when in cell if they create all the pieces, and the viral genome can be spliced and re-spliced with known segments. The history of these assemblies on the genomes can be mapped just by looking at them and comparing them with known segments.

A standard lab might be more interested in toeing the line and hop on the disinformation band wagon. When they had the anthrax scare, somebody found an analysis that markers for the bug came from US Bioweapons. Random outcomes of evolution eventually manage to work better than any lab manufactured effort. However, you CAN attach genomes together artificially that are already known to have binding site competency that were already in nature.
The arguments I have heard that Covid-19 is natural and not from a lab have a common theme: Nature makes a more perfect virus than man, therefore, anything that is too perfect means the virus is natural.
Lab made viruses are Frankensteins. If you point to Frankenstein monster's hand and say, "Only God could make this hand, therefore, this is not an artificial creature made in a lab" you are stating a truth with a misleading conclusion. It is begging the question. That is why lab manufactured viruses are made from 'natural' segments, just cut, spliced and copied in different combinations from the original. To determine whether it is artificial means looking at the whole genome and comparing segments mapped from known databases.
