Why are people still panic buying?

Lines like crazy at sams and Costco this morning.

Why?

Local grocery store has everything you need. Local butcher shops have every meat. It might cost a bit more, but there’s no line. If there really was a shortage, there would be nothing anywhere.

There’s no shortage of anything and in a few weeks, this thing mostly will have blown over.

Idk i went shopping yesterday at the local Vons and many of the items weren’t in stock. Couldn’t get most canned goods, potatoes, frozen fries, lunch meat, cheese very limited, bread all gone, most drinks gone, all paper products wiped out, and much of the produce was gone as well as almost all the meat.

Try Ralph’s instead. They seem to be trying harder to hire.

It’s not a lack of supply issue. It’s a temporary supply chain issue and the companies that are hiring more people have less of a supply chain problem.

I was able to get most things today but things like rice, beans, paper towels/tp gone.

What planet are you on pal? Meat and milk and orange juice were all sold out when I went yesterday to Lucky's.

Going to stay that way too. The only place 90% of people will be able to go to is the grocery store outside of essential industries for work. 8 weeks probably. IL is next FYI.

Because people are fucking stupid.

Wife went to the local Ralph’s four days ago and it was already pretty ransacked.

The cashier yesterday at Vons told me they are short on workers because a bunch of them are sick.
Go figure.

Sunday afternoon local Ralph’s had everything except some breads, no milk, no fresh chicken(but plenty of frozen or rotessire), some store brand tp, some produce out.

None of the above necessities by the way. I mean lord help you if you don’t have fresh chicken or milk. You’ll surely starve. I referred coworker to store. She went Wednesday night and took video of mostly stocked everything.

Back to fully stocked at 6am today.

That's the key:

If you go at night, things are gone.

If you got in the early morning, things are all back, fully stocked.

That's been our experience anyway.

So fuck you and your panic buying. Nearby Costco and Sams have a 2 hour wait. The local Trader Joe’s had about a 45 minute wait. The Walmart neighborhood market was pretty ransacked.

Meanwhile the nearby Ralph’s at 4pm this afternoon had no line whatsoever.

They also had a fully stocked produce section. No TP, no paper towels, no sanitary wipes. Minimal pasta and soup products. Fully stocked freezer but no Dino nuggets. Excellent time to bootstrap your rugrats IMO. Eat what’s on your plate and if not go hungry. If you cry, I’m really giving you something to cry about.

As I keep saying, there’s no fucking shortage of anything. It’s entirely a supply chain and shelf stocking issue. Proof: my dinner last night

Are you incapable of driving? There’s zero traffic right now. Go somewhere where there’s more than one grocery store per hundred thousand people.

Btw, who knew a city full of communists could turn into selfish assholes so quickly? Maybe some people need to lose the religion of leftism and find Jesus?

I don't understand the panic buying. Might have to do with people living paycheck to paycheck and freaking out. We bought an extra loaf of bread or an extra lbs of ground beef for example as this has escalated. Nothing extreme though. Basically doubled up on the stuff we like. Already have a ton of pasta/rice won't expire type food before we eat it.

We bought about 200 rolls of TP back in December because Target gives a kickback (gift card) on that type of stuff. We generally buy those consumable twice a year when they have a sale and do the gift card thing. We have about 6 months of laundry detergent too. Same deal.

I generally don't understand the people that buy the necessities on a weekly basis. Like a family buying 4-6 rolls of TP a week. We are by no means coupon clippers, but when there's a fucking deal on something you need, you move on it. Don't need to buy TP every week.

I guess people are poorer or dumber than I think.

That is the right way to pay the commodities market.

I just stock up on shit I need too. In particular when it's a good deal. Even back when I was poor.

Yup. I was a skeptic early on with this virus, but we're also just heeding the advice the gov is giving. If we have a bit more food, we don't have to frequent the grocery store as often. Seems kind of like common sense.

The people buying 20lbs of ground beef, 200 rolls of tp, 4 years worth of hand sanitizer are fucking idiots though. We're just trying to get it down to a grocery store visit once every 2-3 weeks and liquor store visit every other day....

Was at my Lowes to get an extra extension cord for generator. They had like three pallets of 5gal gas cans, is that going to be the next panic buy lol I've never seen so many in there before. I guess we best be watching out for Corona Hurricane.

If you're really worried about running out of nutrition, just buy a few gallons of good old cows milk. Milk is the ultimate nutrient that has everything you need to grow strong and stay strong. The ultimate superfood, a few glasses a day and you're set. It's also always available since people panic shop for other stuff, so you can replenish every week or two via delivery.

Milk is WHITE.

The buying is females.
They instinctively love to buy shit, and any “need” is an excuse to buy more.
I have a female visitor who will tell me “you need to buy coffee today!”
I check and it is okay for 3 more days.
If I am low on anything, I “need it” immediately.
I had toilet paper but she couldn’t resist buying some when she found it at a little market nearby.
The solution to the emergency situation is buying something when you are a female.
31   FuckTheMainstreamMedia   2020 Mar 30, 6:14pm

I hope anyone who was hoarding feels like a buffoon.

Grocery stores stocked and that’s no joke or exaggeration. My local chain had everything sans tp, antibacterial cleaner, some canned goods and was light on frozen veggies and potatoes. Had everything else including fully stocked meat, produce, dairy, and bread. Even had bags of beans and rice and paper towels which were supposedly tough to find.

All the hoarding morons did was make life difficult for seniors and poor people. Good job assholes.
32   joshuatrio   2020 Mar 31, 4:46am

i went out last night and the local store had pretty much everything. Pasta was available, but picked thin and ground beef/toilet paper were out. But there was plenty of vegetables and chicken to last you years.
33   zzyzzx   2020 Mar 31, 6:54am

WalMart near me this morning had no toilet paper.
