Looks like they are pulling everything they can to slow this down, so we don't end up like Italy with millions in hospitals and thousands dying. Of course logically they can't prevent it, they can only slow it down in hopes that vaccine will be made in time. As long as there is at least one sick person, it'll eventually make it's way around the nation.

Yes, even with most public places shut down, the virus will still spread if it's really that easily spread, only more slowly.

Remember, it's not as deadly as H1N1 (the "swine flu") was in 2009, only much more contagious.

At some point, everyone is just going to say "fuck it" and go back to work. As long as you can't catch it twice, this will end relatively soon.

I don't see it as more contagious than the flu. The best data we have is from the Diamond Princess. After weeks of ideal circumstances for the virus (confined spaces, no containment zones, plenty of sick people wandering around), about 19% of the people onboard came down with the sickness. Normally during flu season about 8% of the population comes down with it I don't buy this talk of super contagiousness.

Wow, only 19% of people on an infected ship got it?

712 / 3700 = .19

Yes, that seems to be correct. Maybe it's not all that super-contagious after all.

Patrick says

And 80% of those affected only knew because of testing.

Yes, that fits with the recent Italian report that 50% to 75% of infected people have no symptoms.
