They have no reason to lie. They were the first to enact drastic measures with whole provinces on lockdown. The majority of people are poor and can't afford to travel so they stay contained. The numbers make total sense.

Not so fast: first they lied and tried to supress all info about the virus, and only when the cat was obviously out of the bag started the "drastic measures". Not that they seemingly have trust of the outside world again they can easily revert to their initial tactics of lying and supressing info.
There has been reports of factories being ordered to waste electricity in order to make it look like they are back at full capacity again.

Possible, the people I know who work there are going to work though. Factories will come back online slowly but surely, they probably only have 30% of their capacity up so far. Plus you'd see spread to other neighboring countries if it was out of control - are those lying too?I think Asia will come out of this first and has some advantage over Europe which waited too long to employ drastic measures. The US is not looking too bad so far.
