#rogerstonesentencingNow let us talk about the curious case of Roger Stone. In six days he gets sentenced in US District Court in Washington,D.C. for nine criminal charges. The judge to decide his fate is US District Judge Amy Berman Jackson. She is a Harvard law school graduate from Baltimore. She is a special enemy of Donald Trump. He found out that, as an undergraduate, she worked one summer as a bunny at the London Playboy Club. He claimed that this was prima facie evidence that she was involved in prostitution. (I have gone to several Playboy clubs and been at the legendary Playboy mansion in Los Angeles. No blatant prostitution goes on at these venues.)
Most fascinating to me is that Amy and Elena are almost twins when it comes to ideology and outlook on life. I told Elena that if she and Amy met, they would get along famously. If Amy was sick one day, Elena could take her place as judge of the court. She would give the same rulings and sentences as Amy does.
Amy is competent and respected. She gives most defendants bail. She gives very reasonable sentences; often below the low end of the sentencing guidelines. All over the world, any time that a defendant is found guilty of a crime and to be sentenced, the prosecutor makes a sentencing recommendation to a judge. It is the same here, in Brasil, Argentina, South Africa, Singapore, Canada, etc. Sometimes judges follow these recommendations. Most of the time they give a sentence that is lower. Every now and then in an extraordinary case, they give a sentence that is higher.
Amy got a well-drafted 25-page sentencing memorandum from the Assistant US Attorneys in the Roger Stone Case. They recommended that she adhere to the US sentencing guidelines and give Stone and sentence between 7-9 years. Anyone familiar with Amy would figure out quickly that such a harsh sentence was not going to happen. (Every judge in the world has a sentencing pattern that one can use to predict future sentences.) The most probable sentence for Stone would have been 24-30 months. He would go to a low-security jail. He would serve 18 months before release to a halfway house.
Donald Trump panicked when he heard this sentencing recommendation. He ordered Attorney General Barr to write a new sentencing memorandum. It was 4 pages long and poorly-drafted. It recommended a sentence below the sentencing guidelines. This has set off a firestorm of protest. Presidents are not supposed to intervene in an ongoing criminal case. After a defendant is sentenced, a president can commute a sentence or give a convicted defendant a pardon.
If I were Amy, I would be quite angry now. I would sentence Stone to a harsh sentence above the guidelines (say 15-20 years). This would force Trump to issue a sentence commutation or pardon. It would dig Trump deeper into a hole.

So if you were a judge, you would let politics get in the way of your decisions?

True, an actual judge would make decisions only on what was presented in court. Tweets and news articles are irrelevant.

Stone needs to be hanged from the yardarm because HITLER TRUMP!

Trump would be well within his rights to pardon him, and he would have pardoned everyone long before now, if there wasn't a plan in the works.
A plan that will send all of the Commies and American hating scumbags and no good crooked Bastards to Jail and Hell.

You can't beat Trump Oliver! Everyone that tires just destroys themselves. Trump has been anointed by God to get rid of the Godless hateful spiteful pure evil Liberals.

Trump will be the Second Geroge Washington in History, you'll see... Well no we probably wont, like Geroge Bush in History we'll all be dead.
Especially the people that try to rewrite history as it happens.

History will not be kind to the Global Do gooder SJW, Liberals, Socialists and Commies. They will have the same brand recognition as Hitler and the Nazis.

Sleep sound knowing that because it's the truth. There's a special place in hell waiting for Amy, so don't put the book down yet my man, the story is still in play.
Quit your victory towel swipes.

Turns out the Judge let a Jury Foreman in who was a Collusiontruther and former Far Left Dem Candidate who posted multiple times about how evil Stone was.
9   Shaman   2020 Feb 14, 8:38am

Papadopolis got 14 days for his process crime. Stone did like three or four of those. Say 2 months would be appropriate. If the prosecution really wanted to stick it to him, then 9 months would be about right. Long enough time cover the election.
10   MisdemeanorRebel   2020 Feb 14, 8:43am

3 months for stealing half a Million Dollars from a charity by PA's first Muslim Female legislator.

vs.

9 years for misstating some dates on private communications for Roger Stone.
11   Tenpoundbass   2020 Feb 14, 8:47am

Process crimes should be made a relic of the past, it's a tool corrupt government officials use to silence people they can't beat.

If the hundreds and thousands of Clinton and Obama sycophants didn't get charged their their lies, then they should be illegal. Either there is "There THERE!" in the original investigation or cut the people lose. We also need to do away with Impeachment process. Every President that needed it, never once looked at, and every time it was used it was wielded as a political weapon, because one party had the Sads the other party was doing so well.

We need to shove the Deep State's head under the water until the last bubble is expelled. The only way we can do that is to declaw and neuter and spay them. Take away their "Lil Bastard's Corruption Tool Kit" and other bag of unlawful and unconstitutional tricks.

Stone should be free today for “time served.”
The whole thing is bullshit; while investigating a hoax which was not a crime in the first place, the FBI interviewed people who should have been left alone.
Stone is not going to do the time the clowns gave him.

Also remember the Gestapo 5AM raid on his house, which somehow had a CNN truck and crew along to video the action. This was just a warning of what can happen to friends of any outsider that dares run for President. I pretty sure Stone would have shown up at FBI Headquarters had the FBI just phoned Stone and asked.

Same question for the attorney general, Butt licker Barr for the sentencing recomendation. Clearly he did but doesn't really matter 95% chance Trump pardons Stone if not now after the election 100 % as well as Manafort and Flynn if he is ever sentenced. The whole cabal of criminals and grifters. And himself if he loses. Trump surrounds himself with 3rd rate criminals they do stupid shit and go to prision.

Since he hasn't, to my knowledge, served any time I guess it's ok to threaten witnesses and lie to Congress. He is an idiot should have taken the 5th. The sentencing recommendation was too much though, up to judge. I think she will show mercy for someone clearly of sub standard mental faculties.
16   Shaman   2020 Feb 14, 3:02pm

The Mueller prosecutors who recommended the 9 years all quit, resigned. This is a great win for justice in the future! Such Obama era snakes shouldn’t be allowed to have prosecutorial powers of discretion.

Really ?

SO you expect America to become a dictatorship with - the constitution, the the three branches of government, our entire system thrown in to the garbage bin, to be replaced with something akin to what Russia has, with a tyrant in charge and a population totally in the dark about everything that's happening ?

You envision a future with no impeachments and no oversight of the President ? Or would it be more along the lines of, "sure they can investigate the President, but lying to congress on behalf of the President will be the act of brave hero, only to be rewarded and not punished . Every citizens duty will be to worship our great leaders and the more corrupt our leaders are the better."
18   theoakman   2020 Feb 15, 7:37pm

The Dems have been playing politics to the nth degree. There strategy has been to try to jail anyone associated with Trump.
19   marcus   2020 Feb 15, 7:57pm

:
Yeah, right. It couldn't be that Trump naturally associates with a sleazy bunch of corrupt types.

Why would Stone have felt he needed to lie to congress ?

Is it that you never ask yourself these questions ? Or is it that you don't care ?
20   rocketjoe79   2020 Feb 15, 8:17pm

Pardons are on the way for Stone and Flynn (Flynn may not need any help.) Stone didn't make things easier for himself with the jury tampering but it was all politically motivated.
Is Stone an agent provocateur? Sure. But the sentence is silly.

Of course, as soon as the pardons are issued, more moaning about "ORANGEMANBAD RECKLESS UNHINGED DICTATORSHIP" will ensue. CNN still has to sell ad space, after all.

Yes it is. In fact lying under oath to congress was the only technically illegal thing that Bill Clinton's impeachment was for, even if the lie was about his personal sex life, not about shady international dealings in an election campaign.

Isn't it the 7 to 9 sentence just the requested or recommended sentence of the prosecutors ?

This is how low (or stupid) I think Trump is: The actual sentence was going to be much much much much much much lower than the prosecutors 7 to 9 years recommended anyway. Knowing this, Trump starts tweeting about it, injecting himself in to it where he shouldn't be, And then when the sentence comes out, 8 months or whatever in some prison resort for corporate criminals, Trump will look great and his stupid base that will think he did it, not knowing that it might have been even lower if Trump hadn't opened his mouth.

Funny, I thought you were one of the most dishonest whackos I've ever come across in my entire life. Even right now you are lying, and not able to hear my point, becasue I didn't refute your absurd general assertion, and instead layed out a specific example.

By the way, not all congressional hearing require swearing an oath, but when they do, lying is considered perjury and can be prosecuted as such.

Funny, that you say democrats lie constantly to congress, but I doubt you could give one really clear example of a democrat clearly lying under oath at a congressional hearing that republicans didn't try to prosecute them for.

Unlike most Trump Cucks (and Trump himself) I actually still believe in the truth and in being honest with myself and with others, the former being the more difficult of the two.

No you Don't! You're the most disingenuous person on Patnet. Your Memes you post backs that ascension up.
There's things I'll post that are not really meme accurate, but I'll be the first to admit. I posted for pure banter fun. You believe every truth bending, truth deflection, crime projecting, lying meme you've ever posted.
We've commented positively on about two out of the thousands, that you've posted. Only to say those few were funny. Not accurate but funny.
You have never posted one truthful meme in your whole Political cartoon meme, never.

not about shady international dealings in an election campaign.

Trump didn't interfere in any election. Biden still is a private citizen today and is not on a single ballot for POTUS. This would have been a campaign issue regardless of anything Trump did. FOX news or whatever right wing news source would have been all over this regardless. The left is going to do the same with Jared and Trump's kids this year. And they should. If you think it was above board for a politician's kid to get paid 7 figures with no experience (yes a talking point, but also fact) then you're crazy. His own boss (Obama) thought it looked bad.

This you are correct on. Really don't understand why he's wasting time on Stone. Not worth it at all even if he thinks he's innocent or the charge of lying to Congress is silly when they knowingly lie to each other, just not under oath I suppose (Schiff and his fake phone call).
32   clambo   2020 Feb 16, 12:31pm

Those dickheads in the DOJ and FBI who quit saw the writing on the wall; they were going to be fired or worse anyway so they quit.

Recall others were fired and some may be sued or prosecuted, some are under investigation now.

Stone was abused, interviewed by the FBI and congress about a hoax and now he is looking at doing time over total bullshit.
33   HeadSet   2020 Feb 16, 12:36pm

Yes it is. In fact lying under oath to congress was the only technically illegal thing that Bill Clinton's impeachment was for,

That statement is false. Bill Clinton committed perjury by lying to a Federal judge in a deposition, plus lying to a Grand Jury, plus suborning perjury. His impeachment for illegal conduct had nothing to do with "lying to Congress." The judge in that case waited until after the impeachment votes to hit Clinton with contempt, as not to influence said impeachment. Clinton true crime of perjury resulted in the Arkansas State Bar taking his law license, Clinton being fined around $90k, and Clinton resigning from the US Supreme Court Bar before that Court took further action on Clinton's law license.

To say that Clinton was punished for lying to Congress just like Stone is outright dishonest.

Does everyone realize Stone's crime is for saying something essentially like... "I could tell you, but I would have to kill you."

That's what the DOJ are calling "Witness Intimidation"

Even Gredicco didn't take it as a threat. The actual statement, "I will kill you and your Dog." when asked a hypothetical question.

Possibly incorrect due to my not remembering the details, but not lying. perjury is perjury, and ultimately Clinton lied under oath about his personal sex life. That assertion is not a lie on my part, and it is what they tried to nail him for.
36   FortwayeAsFuckJoeBiden   2020 Feb 16, 2:13pm

They should investigate the investigators who sentenced. Clean up the swamp while at it.
