1. mandatory jail time for employing an illegal
2. instant grant of US citizenship to any illegal who turns in his employer, as soon as the employer physically goes to jail

Then we would have illegals working hard to cut down on illegal immigration!

#2 could be interesting, but ripe for entrapment scenarios (illegal worker provides false documentation, then insists the employer was aware of illegal status)

#3 Make legal status provable before banks allow wire transfers out-of-country. Penalize banks that allow illegal transfers.

#4 Return to the original (until 1983, I believe) interpretation of birthright citizenship, which excludes illegal foreign nationals, i.e., those "subject to any foreign power." [https://cis.org/Report/Birthright-Citizenship-United-States]

#5 Make harsh penalties for (knowingly) granting an illegal resident state or federal monies (WIC, TANF, MediCal, SSDI, etc.)

Follow the incentives, as I always say...

I will take all of the above and add:

#6 Entering the country illegally automatically voids any chance of citizenship.

#7 Any Illegal involved in a crime (outside of coming illegally) forfeits all assets which are added to a pool to help cover the cost of all deportations.

#8 Remove licenses to practice for Social Workers, Lawyers, etc. who knowingly assist illegals in obtaining government benefits.

I would jail the employers at lest one year per illegal hired.
Deport illegals, after seizing all their assets.
Bounty on bringing in illegals, or providing info to their location.

About #4, this All Day Long! What exactly removed the USA from dealing with immigration in this manner, and, is/was the act Constitutional?

#2 not a good idea.
They would game this easily.
I would pay them to go back , $500 or more.
I would first retina scan them.

I think Mericans need to be weaned off this Statue of Liberty fairy tale. Whilst this French gift was in New Jersey waters, the USA practiced restrictive immigration policies, like the Immigration Act of 1924, which banned (drum roll...) white people from immigrating to the USA, amongst others. In effect until 1965.

1 is already true, just not enforced. I'd add no social services or free medical care, no education. If they still come with no free handouts, and no work, they probably do actually need asylum if their country is such a shithole, living on the streets here is better.

Then we will have 0.1% of illegal immigration we have now. It would essentially stop without any walls, and only enterprising and industrious people would come.

Solyent illegals!

If it’s a shithole, it’s because they made it that way.
They should fix it or live with it, or change their culture to address the problems that lead to their country being a shithole. Coming here just brings their stupid broken culture here and we get a little closer to being a shithole because of them.

Really poor one will not have means to come, and ones who are not really poor will be better off in their homeland if there is nothing free for them in US.
Easiest change (besides enforcing E-Verify) would be to cut off ANY immigrant and his immigrant family members from any type of government help for a set period of time, say 10 yrs from getting green card (and nothing whatsoever for illegals, as Nuttboxer suggested). Want medical care - pay for insurance, no subsidies for kids, etc. This would not need any overhaul of the existing system.

So lock everyone in the country they're born into, make borders giant prison walls? Most people don't agree with their central governments, and don't get a say. And certain imperialist governments turn other countries into shitholes with three letter agencies.

No, you do not lock them in their country, you just keep them from unmitigated migration into your country. The alternative is to allow the migrant flood to turn your country into a overpopulated shithole.
15   Shaman   2020 Jan 17, 11:26am

Cultural values like
1)laws are for stupid people, do whatever you can get away with
2)toss your shit paper in the corner of the stall
3)cheating is good! Corruption is normal.

Those kinds of values make any country into a shithole. People have to police themselves to a certain extent, or civilization can’t work! The government can’t possibly police the general public if a significant fraction of that public is dedicated to thwarting the laws and customs that make our country work.

Bringing people to this country with those cultural values? Problems, crime, corruption, and shit paper in a pile beside the public toilet.

Neither of those responses address the situation I spoke of that prompted Shaman's initial comment.

No prison-walled countries, but instead, maintain the system we once had. One in which:

-asylum seekers are in legitimate fear of persecution (not of economic deprivation)
-merit-based entry has verifiable credentials and experience behind it
-immigrants must front or have fronted for them enough money to support themselves

2 years in jail per illegal.

Or 250k fine per illegal hired. Aka make it financially bad.
