This is even worse than it appears. The Orinda and the Lafayette police departments are both actually contracts with the Contra Costa Sheriffs Office, which also operates the 911 Emergency Dispatch system in Contra Costa County. Why weren’t available Co Co County units dispatched to respond to the disturbance in Orinda, in lieu of the absentee Orinda cops who, according to this report were MIA for more than two hours watching technicians dust a stolen car for prints. This is really a colossal failure of management by the Contra Costa Sheriffs Office that resulted in five murders.

Bigger question is why did all the damn Orinda cops go to Oakland to watch techs dusting for prints on Hallo.fucking.ween? CoCo Sheriff is not responsible for the 5 murders. Some young "woke" douchebag 13/90 is and since they cannot find this pussy they're throwing the CoCo Sheriff under the bus. Fuck them. Orinda Supervisors allowed short term rentals and this is the result of their "progressive" politics. Own it Orinda, this is your fault. If you really want someone to blame look at the Board of Supervisors and vote them out and ban short term rentals.

FUCK AIRBNB!

Orinda is a 'safe donut' zone, meaning, no cop ever gets called out mid-bite. Can't blame them for wanting to get paid for not even being there.

See? You don't need a gun: police will protect you. Once they are done watching paint dry or whatever was their excuse du jour. In two hours or so.

They got there 10 minutes after reports of shots fired, hardly a big screwup. If there was one or two cops on duty that night, it would have been 10 minutes anyway, more if they all had to meet and converge.

There's really no reason to suspect a very loud party is going to result in a mass shooting.

Which, by the way, wasn't done by a White Dude with an AR-15.

They didn't have time to get them into whiteface?

Orinda Mayor Inga Miller tells the San Francisco Chronicle that she hopes the arrests made Thursday give some relief to residents.

Knowing their police force is actually in town and answering 911 calls would bring even more relief

Tell us how you know this when we don't have a single payer system.

Britain can provide numerous examples. Your phrase is no better than: "How do we know socialism does not work if we do not have socialism here?"

People don't kill people! Short term rentals kill people! Ban short term rentals gaahr!

“Britain can provide numerous examples.”

Actually Britain can’t provide any examples since it has never happened

The Contra Costa District Attorney has refused to file charges against the five people that the Contra Costa Sheriff alleged were responsible for the Orinda Halloween massacre. The sheriff has yet to explain why no police officers, who are also sheriff deputies, were on duty in Orinda when the shooting erupted.

A month and still no arrests, or explanation of why Orinda cops were all out of town and unable to respond to 911 call.

Bad for the real estate market and chamber of commerce, who largely support the press through advertising. Same thing in Santa Cruz. It takes private podcasts and e-mail blogs to find out what is really happening.

Police have no obligation to save you. If some guy has a gun and is in your house shooting your family the cop is in his rights to wait for the swat team. I've seen it with my own eyes a couple of times. You are responsible for your own safety
