They also put out a new edition every 2 years hoping that students will have to buy it. I allow students to use any edition from N to N-5, and N-3 is $5 on Amazon. Their representative used ta call me and inquire why my class buys so little books from them.

Difference between Taibbi (and also Greenwald) and other lefty journalists is that the two aforementioned ones are honest and highly intelligent...we might agree or disagree with them, but their writings show presence of a well-functioning brain. Clinton wasn't impeached. He was acquited on both articles of impeachment.

However, the House voted to have impeachment hearings, that were public, Clinton lawyers could see all the evidence discussed, the opposition (Dems) could bring their own witnesses - also publicly, the impeachment vote happened quickly, and the Senate then held the trial.

Pelosi wants secret impeachment hearings where Trump AND the Public is kept in the dark about the proceedings, Trump is kept in the dark and unable to contest the evidence presented, but his admin would still be demanded to provide total cooperation and subpeonas, with no ability to contest the evidence discussed. Trump is absolutely correct not to cooperate under such circumstances.

You oversimplify the possibilities. I think a lot of corruption isn't always done in a way where actions are guaranteed. Often, things are done by making subtle nudges in the right direction, or giving people helpful information, and often have the possibility of simply not working out right, which helps them to maintain deniability. Non-guaranteed advantages.

I don't think accusations w/ scant details delivered in the form of a meme is something that should be easily believed, but it shouldn't necessarily be dismissed either. We are, after all, talking about a politician getting a metric fuckton of money. We know big money never marks the trail of corruption, right?

A scenario like this could easily have played out like:
