As we saw with Gilette and Levis, going woke gets you broke.

Add Disney's Star Wars to the list.

Apparently they took Margaret Cho's character, Rico Tico or whatever the name is, off of previous merchandise designs because any shirt the character was on, even in the background, people wouldn't buy.

Star Wars merch sales have been collapsing since late 2016.

Disclosure: I haven't seen Star Wars since the awful, unredeemable prequels.

Here is the SJW take:

I think they run computer programs to generate composites and ethnic types, with ambiguous transgender characteristics, and find the actors that look the role.

All part of the Great Socialist Paradise LibbyFuck propaganda machine. Even the money and the publicity can't overcome the innate vomit meter.
2   Patrick   2019 Oct 7, 5:56pm

True, our innate reflexes cannot be defeated.

The hero of Star Wars must be a man. It's innate.

Women are turned on by heroic men. Not by women.

Men are turned on by hot women. Heroism will never make a fugly sexually interesting to them.

My momma said that Brave (that redheaded archer character) was a Gay Man's fantasy of being a young heroine.

No joke. Momma is woke. She also saved my ass from a nasty ho by forbidding me to see her in HS. Turned out the Gal put the Tramp in Trampoline.

Yeah, she gave me the clap, and I don't mean a round of applause.

However, I was not named as one of the baby daddies several months later.

Thank Goodness for antibiotics.

"What's the good news?" "You're no longer a virgin, congratulations!"

"Hmm, what's the bad news?" "You have the clap and you're still on the subpoena for paternity testing."

Nah, the whole crappy killing of Han Solo/Harrison Ford was designed to make even the great Indiana Jones ... a loser in a Feminist driven multi-verse. Ewan doesn't even have half of Han Solo's mojo, since he's a prequeler and not a part of the original gunslingers.

The last one was so godawful I almost walked out. I would have except I had a couple kids with me. My son watched but was fidgeting. My daughter fell asleep.

I sat and stewed while watching space bombers flying OVER a star destroyer IN SPACE to DROP bombs that looked straight out of WWII. Ok whatever it’s campy sci-fi, I can forgive some glaring physics impossibilities. But then it was just a long chase scene where a masculine imperial star destroyer commanded by a (bad(of course)man) endlessly pounded the rebel ship which was the shape of a female reproductive system. Yah, that happened. Then the women in charge of that gyno ship got all weird and refused to act or disclose their intentions so a young male ship captain decided to take action and lead a small crew of misfits on a wild side quest...which achieved nothing except the destruction of the rebels because the women in charge were always right even when they were wrong and guys are stupid, mmkay? Then a stupid fight on a planet where the rebels mostly die and get killed and Luke the crotchety old man beats the bad man but not really because he’s not there and he’s just killed himself with whatever mystical projection he just pointlessly did.
Ok.
And it’s over.

The whole thing just sucked.

Just Do Not Go To Movies and let woke Hollywood go completely broke.
I have not been to a movie in 4 years and do not intend to go anymore. Ever.

Me too. I grew up with these movies and am very willing to be forgiving, but that last movie was just terrible.

I thought Rogue One was good. Especially the last 30 minutes. I didn't even mind the Force Awakens. My kids like the cartoon Clone Wars and Rebels.

I have some hope that the Mandalorian turns out decent since John Favreau is involved.

I disagree.

The Force is not exclusive to males. And that’s where a Jedi’s power comes from, not from physical prowess. Rey is a fantastic character.

The problem is the story for episode 8 was crap combined with the sheer stupidity of adding in strong societal propaganda.

Look, everyone out there knows how mindnumbingly dumb the concept of “woke” is. Yes there’s lunatics, and of course the Democrats are assholes and want to use it for political gain. But every other Joe Schmo thinks the “woke” folks are idiots.

So when Disney hires a terrible producer, they piss off most of the country. Let’s call it what it is. Laura Derns characters story was atrocious and pandering to woke idiots. The short chubby asian chicks story was worse. It was lame, not entertaining, and despite the non discrimination of the force, no one believes short chubby asian chicks are good at anything but math and cooking.

So the story was terrible...so terrible that it’s very close to destroying the entire franchise. Kennedy should be fired and so should any executive she reports to.

Instead of acknowledging its failure, Disney and the media SJW types including Rian Johnson just blamed the audience and the fans for being too patriarchal and racist and unenlightened. Rather than changing their story, they hoped to change the entire audience.
And you know, a good story DOES change its audience. But it’s got to sell that change with impactful characters and plotting and development that surprises and informs the audience. Johnson went for browbeating people with silly ideology, and bamboozling them with plot lines that make no sense.
The movie had to fail. The only reason it made money was the sheer inertia the franchise had acquired. It took a lot of shit to slow down the fans’ expectations low enough to realize that their favorite series was stuck in the mud.
And then they were pissed.
And then the company said “the story isn’t the problem. You are the problem!”

So yah, Solo did bad at the box office and it was because they pissed off their fans bad. The movie itself was ok and even entertaining. But after the abortion of a film The Last Jedi was, it was a steak dinner served on a trash can lid.

They can't. Kennedy for some reason got the Order of the British Empire and is like the Queen of Hollywood Execs. To remove her would enrage the Media. Her second in command is your typical half-black curly haired super woke SJW, more wokey dokey millenial than Kennedy, and she has never been in charge of a single movie herself, no even an indy with a million dollar budget, so having her "regretfully resign" is no option either.

Kennedy also had never done a movie as producer or director without Lucas or Spielberg in one or both of those roles, before the new series.

Except one: Jurassic Park 3, which killed the franchise for a decade.

She was a typist, the only reason she got promoted was because she was good an organizing a schedule, so she became an executive assistant.

Lucas made her CEO before the Disney sale to make sure somebody was looking out for his creative interests/legacy. That didn't turn out well for him. Or for Disney.

Check out Nerdrotic or Overlord DVD. I'm just getting into this whole affair now, but they have the scenes.

You know how hyperspace is supposed to be entering another dimension? Well, apparently it doesn't anymore as a McGuffin. You can rip an Imperial Supercruiser in half by going to hyperspace at it.

In effect, turning any spaceship with a warp drive, into a nuclear missile.

And thus, invalidates the entire series as a droid could drive one right into the heart of any Death Star, setting it off with a thermonuclear blast.

There's no need now ... for an original trilogy, as the hyperdrive thermonuclear missile was discovered before a New Hope.

Good job Rian Johnson!

You got it! No need to send a torpedo to the thermal exhaust port if you can just hyperspeed an unmanned X-wing into the Death Star.

25   Tenpoundbass   2019 Oct 30, 6:09pm

There was only one Star Wars, and I have never seen it all the way through. I have fallen asleep from the dreadfully slow dialog and action every time I've tried to watch it.
Apparently there was a whole cottage industry built around that crappy movie, that I have yet to see all the way through. OK Yeah I woke every time I heard a light saber go "ugugugugugughh" "whhhoooonnng" "Jushhhhhhh" then right back to sleep.
26   FuckTheMainstreamMedia   2019 Oct 30, 6:25pm

The last Jedi is the only one from the entire series I haven’t watched at least three times. Except I haven’t seen Solo. I may not watch episode 9

The only person I gave a damn about in the prequels was the Emperor.

Literally the only character who knew what the fuck they were about.

Mace Windu and Obi Wan were alright. Annakin was horribly written, Princess Whateverthefuck was ignoreable.
28   Fuckyouasshole   2019 Oct 31, 10:01am

Which is why they're trying to bring him back. They know that they can't make money on the new bozos, I mean characters, and need the nostalgia effect.
30   Ceffer   2019 Oct 31, 10:06am

Sad, they have to revert to Green Cheese in a Hood with a British accent to spark interest back in the franchise.
31   FortwayeAsFuckJoeBiden   2019 Oct 31, 10:49am

They fucked it up with SJW. Their audience liked the original product. These morons changed the product. Audience doesn’t like new product because it’s not cool.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Why is that so hard to understand?
32   Rin   2019 Oct 31, 11:23am

IMO, Star Wars is the inverse Trump Presidency in terms of movie serials.

The audience did not vote for SJWs with their stupid characters, and ridiculous and implausible setups but that's what Kathleen Kennedy delivered just like the USA (minus the metro areas of Boston, NYC, Philly, DC, Chicago, LA, SF) voted for Trump, the outsider, and not the war mongering DC insider.

The reaction? Blame the voters, not the substance of the material whether it's insipid movies or a moderate, yes, moderate Presidency w/ a trash talking persona.

Remember, throughout 2016, I never spoke about the election because for the most part, I'm not interested in politics. However, circa 2017, there were massive SJW/Femi-Nazi protests all over Boston and NYC, acting as if the election were stolen by men. And then, it got progressively worse as no one in MA could even have a discussion about the Prez w/o being labelled a serial rapist or a KKK member.

And now, thanks to the above, I'm a Trump supporter, something which I'd never expected.

When faced with his own extinction, a man would have to be insane to not fight back against it.
I wasn’t a Trump fan in early 2016, but I got there later because of how the Democrats and especially Hillary acted. My position has only hardened to the consistency of diamond since then with the cornucopia of buffoonery committed by Democrats and their Leftist idiots. I still don’t like Trump and wouldn’t invite him to dinner, but I will crawl over broken glass to vote for him over anyone my enemies in the DNC anoint as their stalking horse against the American people.

So when Disney hires a terrible producer

First of all, let's get a few things correct, the reason why Kathleen Kennedy, the Feminist Gestapo Chief, is the head of Lucasfilm, has nothing to do with Disney, who treats its subsidiaries like separate companies, provided they can pay their bills and maintain a viable brand.

It was George Lucas, himself, who trusted Kathleen and put her in charge of his former company. Yes, Kathleen Kennedy was an old timer and hearkened back from the 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' era. And so there you have it, a Shakespearean tale of betrayal by a trusted colleague & former friend, some amalgamation of Othello, Julius Caesar, and Macbeth.

Similar progression with me. I disliked tRUMP in 2016, did not go to elections because I thought both candidates sucked. Only some time in 2017 or early 2018 when faced with the Left attacking science and observing general, illogical TDS of media, I began thinking that tRUMP is actually good for the country. FFS, now in Austin schoolkids are supposed to learn about 102982 genders!
I will likely vote for tRUMP in 2020 even though I find him annoying.

It’s still worth it to vote for three reasons:
1)the Popular Vote thing where your vote does count towards a mandate. One less thing for the Democrats to hold over the President and otherwise screech about.
2)the Interstate voter compact which may or may not be in effect would give the electoral votes of participating states to the popular vote winner.
3)if you don’t vote, you don’t get a right to complain!

TX is changing and is no longer a guaranteed 'R' like it was a generation ago. Realize, the Houston area has many more subnationalities outside of Anglo-Saxon, not too disparate from let's say NYC or LA.

MA, in contrast, was been left-leaning since the Kennedy era. And that's even before my own physical lifespan.
